Do these work together to keep set bonus

right now I have the Malfurion's Conquest 4 piece set.
since the bonus is the same do I keep the set bonus if I replace one piece with the Malfurion's Triumph set?
buddy said forget the set and just buy 245 pieces with better stats. What do you think of this idea?

It should retain the set bonus/s and I'd recommend holding onto the 4xT9 bonus for a while still, sure you miss out on a little more stamina but you're barkskin gains up to 25% more uptime.
