You run out of cooldowns within 2 minutes? Wow, that takes skill. Its also not just managing your cooldowns, it is the healer's cooldowns as well like...pain suppression.
The DMC:G is really low in usefulness next to any trinket that brings stam or avoidance. Because face it, unless you are add tanking 100% of the time and nothing else, most bosses in ulduar can and will kill you in a few seconds if you have low avoidance. ~500 BV won't save you from a 30k+ hit either. Not to mention when add tanking BV < more avoidance anyway. Getting hit is still getting hit. If you are tanking it is
YOUR
job to make sure that if your healers are lagging behind by 1 second, say...webwrap...that you can stay tanking that boss and live while they hustle to start healing again.
Tanking is about threat yes, but it is more so about surviving.
Simply because if you die, everyone else does too.

Correct, I dont think threat via stm alone is going to be enough when you have very high dps that you have to tank for. Every single other tank I have run with regardless of class has a hard time keeping high enough threat, and so I look for two things in my build. A)Mitigation, and B) TPS.
So far it has not let me down in the slightest, but in all fairness I will admit my setup is not the best for every situation... but it does have the ability to MT anything out there.
Never said it didn't. I'm saying not getting hit > getting hit for less. I have a significant amount of block compared to most pallys I've tanked with. However I also have more dodge and parry. I had geared myself around add tanking in which block is very useful. However even you have to admit that a
tiny
amount of threat is not worth quite a larger amount of survivability.
The only reason I can see anyone taking DMC:G over even the Heroism dodge trink is if their mainspec is ret and it is the easiest way to get a trinket.
Also, Your avoidance just by association would be high if you have main tanked Uld 25.
Edit: I spec for TPS also, I find pally survivability to be quite where it needs to be and simple things like Divinity are useless to me.

Sorry - I haven't been following the discussion, and my eyes are getting blurry. Exactly what proc are we comparing?
If you've got DMC:G, you're more likely to proc Stamina, rather than Strength, so which trinket are you talking about?

Except DMC:G still doesn't proc stamina :]
I think they were looking for a comparison of DMC:G (str version, obviously) and
Heart of Iron
, in terms of effective threat.
