Petition = Pointless on a NON-official blizz site

Even if it was on the official forums, blizzard frowns on petitions. They want actual discussion, not just a bunch of people saying they agree with the OP.
But yeah, you can definitely tell the original 8 races look worse than the 4 new ones.

Good move ;) No longer a petition.
I agree that they should add new skin options in Cataclysm; I would not like to see them get rid of the existing ones, though. Add new looks, don't replace.

They should do something serious to female trolls. Like,
anything
would be an improvement. The faces and trollfeet are almost bearable but then there's that horrible stature. I actually wish they were more 'trollish' and less standing perfectly upright with absolutely zero defining posture.

Exactly this. If I wasn't taking a break from the game soon I'd be doing backflips about the new race change because I haven't played my rogue since Vanilla because I got sick of looking at the female troll posture and really awful melee animations.

Not really a racial facelift, but WTB thickness to armor.
ie plate should make the character look MASSIVE compared to cloth. I love the looks of most of the plate items in game, but still I sometimes get the feeling that I'm wearing just fancy bodypaint or very detailed latex. Would be even cooler if they modeled armor items to match the textures, such as adding extra size to the outer shins of some legplates that have HUGE plates there in the texture.
Of course other armor types could use some sizing up. Leather could be bigger than cloth and mail even more.

I'd love to see the old models reworked. I don't want to see any huge changes, but I wish they'd at least bump the number of polygons in the original races up to match the newer ones and give them a little more depth.
I wondered if they'd do it in TBC. I was sure they would do it in WotLK. I thought maybe the updates to the druid models hinted at it happening in Cataclysm. But we still haven't heard anything, so who knows.

I have to agree with this. I see very, very little difference between female Orcs and female Trolls, outside of skin color. A similar hunched-over posture, perhaps more pronounced tusks - maybe make troll females a little more slim and troll women bulkier?

Err, no. Orc Females = Best Horde females
Troll Females = Worst Horde females

Mainly I'd like the original races to be brought up to the level of blood elves and draenei (and presumably goblins and worgen). Doing major changes to the faces and hairstyles probably aren't necessary, but they could use more polygons.

Sidebar to this discussion:
For the love of god, someone change the female tauren laugh. It brings to mind something awful from a deep pit of hell.

Did you know?:
some pants models actually have mass, and don't just look like skin-tight latex, wearing a tabard however, makes the "mass" turn back into the character's base model (skin).
Not sure how plate looks, but while previewing my T8 mage pants the overlapping plates on the sides of the pants were clearly visible in space and not just in texture, the moment I applied the tabard however, it went flat.
The reason for this flatting out of models (I think) is the same as for any other "speed over eye-candy" thing about WoW: less polygons = less resources used (specially in a crowded area). This mentality however is outdated, because most PC's are more than adequately equipped to run WoW with a few million polygons more.
ON TOPIC: yes old races should get an overhaul, if nothing else then at least the faces and hair textures (ever seen the hair of an orc up-close? looks like a mosaic).
