Every single person you described except one has been a prick. It didn't really have anything to do with their gear; they're just pricks.
The Paladin who left because you wanted to kill Archavon first was in the right, though. A bunch of terrible players in terrible gear could kill Archavon; its not worth getting saved to the instance with a group that can't kill Emalon. Hence, the majority of decent players will want to kill Emalon first, because if its doomed to failure in that run, they can always pick up another one.

It's like if one of your friends invites you at his home, then when he offers you a coffee you just go out and close the door without telling anything because you wanted tea.
No.
It's more like being invited into someone's house for coffee, and then watching them stir it with their junk before they hand it to you. Leaving without a word at that point is the most polite way to go about it.
Killing Archavon before Emalon in a PuG is foolishness. Archavon is not a gear check for Emalon; its barely an idiot check. A far better gear/idiot check would be the 2 trash mobs before Emalon. If people die horribly to those, drop group while you still can.
Sorry, this was all off-topic. The point is, out of your examples, this was the one time where you were wrong about someone being rude/a jerk. This one was about understanding the point of view of someone with better gear than you. Someone in half Ulduar gear + t7.5 has no reason whatsoever to kill Archavon in 10man, and barely any in 25man; they're THERE for Emalon. Let's face it; Emalon is already pretty easy (loot pinata version 2), especially after the changes made to the encounter.

Did you ever notice that, generally, the better the gear, the worst the person?
This is only because the good players with good gear don't get kicked out of their guilds for being loot &*!@#s/drama queens, and thus do not pug or generally need to interact with players outside their guilds.

i am one of this good geared people, but i cannot really identify me with this. I know some player do get like this then they get gear but also remember alot of other people with gear is general nice guys if you treat them good.
I am a tankadin and to be honest i would leave a group if people was rude to me, if it was just one person i may kick them if they keep it up. I have had a couple of time then dpser really act badly and then we wipe on the watchers groups at first boss in AN heroic bcs the dps was insanely low. They had under 800 dps all three, did a couple of try then i had enough and just said bye and left.
The worst player i know is not the quiet ones, it is the nice guys who talks like a pro but then you do not suspect they stab you in the back (like ninja a good epic you needed or then you have a arguement bcs you think he is not doing his job correctly the person completly changes attitude and becomes a total prick. Happend in MGT heroic once, a rogue who was nice totally had a personality change and then he was kicked he refused to leave the instance so we was stuck with 4 people over 40 mins, he finally left bcs we threaten to ruin his rep with the guild we was in, 4 major raiding guilds) and then smile in your face.
Reason many epic people may be these reasons:
1) many people who achieved this know his class well and hate it then he has to drag people through a instance.
2) You get drunk with power and you know you can use it often and get away with it.
3) They took alot of crap then they leveled up in pugs and now they despise pugging and then they have to, they are really controlling in the group's player behavior.

I have good gear and am not a jerk. That being said you won't often find me in pugs as i'm mostly doing guild-raids or instances with friends from other guilds. (it's not really about elitism but prefering to go with known players, and not wanting to take the risk of bad pugs to meet new unguilded good players)
Also, what if I want to do both bosses because I need gear? The truth is that these elitists will just leave the group after Emalon (without telling, of course) because they don't want to do Archavon at all. Then people who needed Archavon can't do it because the best players left. Tha'ts just egoism. Not really a problem, if your group could kill Emalon then you can kill Archavon easily. Thus it's an easy 2 badges + 15 gold or so for staying 5 more minutes in the group. I'd certainly stay and it's not as if i need anything from him.

The Prince (or however he is called, 2nd boss) is the only one you have to kill to get to the last boss.

Jerkassery transcends all levels and all tiers of gear. I'm sure that there are a lot of *!@#wads out there who are low level or with full blues.

I agree with the pally and have done this before. There is no need to do the old boss to check if you are geared. There are 5 trash mobs before Emalon that will show you very quickly which of your dps isn't going to cut it. As for tanks and healers, inspect them or ask for stats. Like Fritz said, better to fail at Emalon and not get saved.
I agree that those other people were jerks/idiots but making a generalization about 'the better the gear the worse the player' is not accurate.Ok, the Paladin maybe was right, but what about telling something before leaving? If someone can't spend 5 seconds to tell why he is leaving, he is just a rude person who doesn't deserve a spot in any raid. I will never invite him again. It's like if one of your friends invites you at his home, then when he offers you a coffee you just go out and close the door without telling anything because you wanted tea. Pathetic.
Oh, and I never said that ALL good geared people are rude. Just "most" of them: at least on my realm, elitists tend to be rude and don't care about other people. Plus, 99% of them are always in a hurry (they pull when people are not ready, they leave at first wipe without telling, etc). Poor geared people sometimes are rude too, indeed, but at least most of them are willing to listen and learn. Elitists often think they are the best.
Good morning mate, those pricks with uber gear and best dps was always here, and I dont think some1 haven't noticed them yet.
I hate those players always trying to show off their "1337" tactical knowledge in raids and HCs, and those dumb asses that ignores you. well we all know them as the pros of communities (I won't name names) but you know they are the people saying "haha nerd rage".
We can only hope they drop dead while they sleep.
