Destro rotation question from the sticky

I've read the
raid build sticky
and I have a question about the Destruction rotation:
Basic rotation is:
CoD -> Corr -> Immo ->conflg - CB -> Incen spam
Use Conflagrate and CB whenever CD is up. Soul fires can be thrown in when backdraft is up. Generally Corr is not worth reapplying. It is only useful to apply it at the start and during any movement phases.
My question is when do I re-apply Immolate? It increases Incinerate's damage and is a requirement for Conflag. What is the actual rotation? Many thanks!

hmm, annoyingly that rotation is out-dated now. we'll have to get onto blightman and see if we can get him to revise it.
there isn't a "rotation" in the strictest sense. we have a starter rotation which you should use to start all fights and then you follow a priority order to decide what to cast at any given time.
starter rotation = (LT(rank1 >) immo > curse > conflag > CB > incinerate.
priority order:
LT
curse
immo
conflag
CB
incinerate

Well, I went from 0/40/21 to 0/13/58. Good lord! This is a "rotation"? I guess I need to get used to it and all, but there's soooo much going on and to keep track of that I'm just desperately spamming buttons whenever things are off cooldown. Sigh. Gonna take some practice.
My main's a healer. I used to think DPS had it easy in this game.

get a good DoT tracker (i like "buttontimers") and that will make a big difference to how hard you find it.
buttontimers is good because it can track cooldowns in exactly the same way as it tracks DoTs. other DoT timers do track cooldowns too but often in a different place or in a different format. if you've got all your DoTs and cooldowns in timer bars counting down then it gets much easier to see what you need to do next.

You shouldn't throw a cb before conflag at the start. Sure, there's that annoying half-second but you should throw a cruse or just wait. I say that cause if your conflag crits your cb will have the pyroclasm buff which add some damage. I know it's not a huge amount of dps but we're talking about min-maxing.
It's actually better to fill that spot with CB, assuming that you use a curse or something beforehand. You want to get CB on cooldown as much as possible, and it is almost never a good idea to WAIT to use a cooldown for pyroclasm. The time spent waiting far outweighs the minimal gain in damage. Research things before posting personal untested claims. Corruption is another option to fill that void between immo -> conflag, and is often the better choice between CB/corr simply because it is takes up a gcd while CB has a longer cast time and prevents you from casting conflag sooner once your client is allowed to cast conflag. It is
never
a good idea to just wait during that period, also.

Thanks for the feedback all. Yes, I've been practicing on the test dummies. Yes, I'm using Quartz and I also grabbed Quartz_procs to monitor my Life Tap buff closely. I'll get OmniCC. As I said, it's going to take some practice. In my new spec my DPS increased by 300 on the dummies, so that's a plus.
I guess I had in mind a set sequence of buttons to press during a fight, a rhythm if you will. As it stands, it's more of a constant state of monitoring for me: "Is this CD up? What about this one? Do I still have Life Tap? How long until the curse expires?" etc., etc. Perhaps that's my healer background shining through. I don't really use any kind of a rotation when I'm healing, I just react to what comes.
For DPS, I'm looking for of a "Press 3-3-3-2-1-4-3-3-3" kind of experience.

That kind of experience doesn't really exist anymore :P

that's all a bit harsh. the point is that conflag > CB. conflag does higher DPET and more damage over the course of a fight so it has priority. it also procs pyro which is awesome.
as for what happens between immo and conflag at the start of a fight, we have plenty of options but just waiting for the server to register the DoT isn't going to destroy your DPS since it's a one time deal at the start of any given fight. however it is, of course, good practice to put a curse in there (or lifetap if you completely forgot before combat started as i often do... yes, i'm getting old >.<)
edit: aha! that's cool, just noticed the patch numbers next to all forum posts. excellent idea!

oh noes that means we'll get
lol
/10char
posts >.<
btw anyone know if the patch number on the forum posts updates when we edit? (i'm thinking about updating stickies and having them be recognisably updated)

I'll go necro an old post of mine and find out :P
edit: edited an old post from 3.2 and the patch remained 3.2 instead of changing to 3.2.2. So no, it does not update.

ah well. i guess that would cause at least as many problems as it would solve anyway. thanks.

Why the hell would anyone want that kind of experience? That's not playing a video game.
You cannot deny that it used to be this way in Burning Crusade. Sacrifice your Succubus, keep your curses up, and spam Shadow Bolt. Voila! You're at the top of the meters.
I've always been jealous of my DPS guildmates because I was under the impression that DPS was more relaxing, with less to keep track of. I thought it was just a matter of worrying about proper gems and spec (with good gear of course). I'm finding this is not the case. I've been healing in this game for almost four years and while I absolutely love it, healing is stressful. I use my warlock to sort of "take a break". But now that I've started raiding with him, I find the stress is back.
