Afrer playing a Destro spec Lock in PvP since vanilla WoW, it pains me to see how many players have flocked to playing Destro locks since WOTLK. Any moron can now pull off insane burst with little to no coordination/skill/timing.
R.I.P Destro as a respectable PvP spec.
Full Affliction here I come.

avoiding the herd is just a bad as following it.
are you in pvp to enjoy it and to do well or are you in it for the respect of your peers? do you think anyone here or in game will respect you more if you play affliction?
personally i can't stand pvp but i see far more threads here telling me how bad(/underpowered) warlocks are at pvp than i do posts that say locks are face-rolling their way to high arena ratings.
can't say i care much either way as far as my own gameplay is concerned but i expected more than this immature attitude from you kobrakai.

I don't play a game for "respect" at all. The same thing goes for everyone who chooses what is inarguably the "easiest" way to play a game in order to gain an advantage, I also have Paladin and Druid 80s and playing both Ret and Resto on both of them is laughably easy/boring. How anyone can get entertainment out of pressing so few buttons and making so few decisions in order to see big numbers is beyond me.

i currently run destro for my pve spec, and i have done a lot of pvp with it, now i might prefer afflic to destro or demo, but until 3.2 hits and dot based classes get a buff(or rather everyone else gets a nerf muahaha) i will keep on playing destro for the simple reason that if i am already playing a class that isn't the best i will do everything i can to win.

Respectable spec =/= play game to get respect.
Semantics are so fun lolz

so, your problem is that you find it dull?
cool, sounds like affliction might be a good choice for you. good luck with that.
some very subjective ideas can look very objective from the subject's points of view. perhaps 'the community' didn't need telling that one player (you) had got bored with destro?

Nothing to do with boring. Everything to do with minimal setup required for ridiculous results. Destro has just joined the queue with the burstfest that is WOTLK PvP. Warlocks were always more of a finesse/strategic class, Destro has been oversimplified and taken "Glasscanonism" to a new extreme.

Being that you seem to have a low opinion of PvP in general in WotLK (which may be justified for all I know), perhaps changing games, rather then specs, would be more satisfying.
For instance, while changing from Destro to Affliction may represent trading burst for self-sufficiency/durability, I am doubtful the effect such a change will have on your overall PvP experience will ultimately be satisfying.

Playing games for a challenge is much more rewarding than playing the easiest route. I can absolutely destroy pretty much everyone I come across as Destro, but it is SO simple to do so it just isn't fun or thoughtful, AT ALL.

wow so we locks qq when we get nerfed and when we get buffed.
If you dont like the simplicity of the spec, then reroll or respecc..... dont come here and cry about it.
And I know that you contribute alot here at this forum, and that I personally know that i have benefited on more than one occasion from your input. But then again I am almost positive that I have read responses where you have pointed out pointless threads, which is exactly what this thread is, pointless.

PvP as destro is certainly powerful, but I wouldn't go so far as to degrade it by claiming it's the new Ret/Huntard...
Why are you so bitter? Because warlocks finally have some PvP utility?
I'm disappointed in this post entirely.

Since when is massive burst damage with minimal setup PvP utility? Direct damage is pretty much the OPPOSITE of utility. It goes against the whole grain of what the Warlock class was originally designed to do anyway.

The destro spec has
always
been burst damage...where have you been? If you know how to play a destro lock well, you understand that it does take skill and timing (especially against rogues) unless your opponents are vegetables or just terribad.
If you find it too easy or boring like you previously stated, then by all means change your spec if you want.
But don't come in here with an attitude telling all the destro locks that they're no better than hunters or rets.
I'm now wondering what you hoped to accomplish by coming here, as it just seems like your trolling (crying?).
And who are you to say what warlocks were "designed" to do? Are you a developer? I'm guessing no.
So now what are you going to do as affliction? Insta-fear and coil instead of stunning/dazing/seducing?
Good on you I guess. /golfclap

Destro takes no more skill/timing to use effectively than it did before. Since Wrath launched, it was a 5 button PvP spec... And guess what, it still is. It just does more damage now.

I feel I have to chime in and support the OP's point of view. For me, it's not about "respect". However, I have always enjoyed playing the less-common classes or spec's. Don't ask me why, I just do. I was also a Destro enthusiast for a long time. Before Chaos Bolt, it was a spec that took some of the most skill to play. One mistake and you were dead.
With the addition of Chaos Bolt, the class didn't turn into a facerolling one. So the comparison to (the new) Ret isn't quite apt if you ask me. After all, it still requires proper use of Shadowfury, which is more difficult to use than anything a Paladin has. And in many cases (read: Rogues) proper use of the Succubus is also required. Put those together and you still have a class that's more difficult than any "faceroller" is likely to master.
But the fact remains, with the addition of Chaos Bolt, Destro's burst capability went through the roof. And this undoubtedly made the class a lot easier. Whereas before you had to control a target for an extended period
while
you applied your damage, and worry about things like Fear breaking too soon, now all you have to do is create a very tiny window in which to apply thousands upon thousands of damage.
