maybe you shouldnt meta if you see a lock or pally around? (more applicable for bgs) or even in arenas take out the war or pally first so you can meta unhinged
Although that is the most logical idea, it certainly is the worst suggestion (not your fault though, it really seems like the only way to prevent it)
The only way I can see Metamorph viable is if they make banish/turn evil half the duration or something, but honestly even this can't be that great because 5 seconds is still a long long time. Increasing survivability even more seems kinda overdone. With your suggestion, Metamorph kinda sounds like an Offensive Pain Suppression
The only suggestion that I actually like is the MS effect suggestion. Perhaps cleave should affect both targets with a 25% MS debuff?
But still, this doesn't solve the issue with poor performance from PvP with demonology.

This
guy seems to be doing OK.
Ye demo sucks I actually specced it a few months back because I was bored and never tried it out in PvP, needless to say I didn't do very well. Some big crits but I just died far too often (even more than usual), but thats caused id just pop meta and charge at a group of people in the hopes I was gonna kill one of them.
Fun times....

Let's just make a new talent - fusion!
When you are fused with your pet, you won't depend on it.
It would give you a second head (:D), a bit faster movement speed, and some other abilities.
<walloftext>
- When you fuse with doomguard (300% armor, 600% with meta), you don't feel pity or remorse or fear and you cannot be stopped unless killed. You get
war stomp
and
cripple
. Also your rain of fire has 2 times bigger radius, deals some more damage. This fusion can last only 10 seconds (just because). After fusion you get an effect called damned soul, which decreases your movement and casting speed by 50% for 5 seconds. Metamorphosis in this form lasts just 10 seconds, but now your cripple slows enemies by 70%, and war stomp lasts 6 seconds.
- Fusion with infernal (300% armor, 600% with meta) - lasts 1 minute, gives you a passive
immolation aura
. Also you can disperse into nether, which gives you a 5k damage bubble for 5 seconds (10 sec cd), but you can only use an ability called meteor (makes you fall from the sky, dealing 666 damage with 180% spell coefficient). Every time an enemy strikes you, he has 30% chance for his weapon to suffer durability damage. Metamorphosis gives you usual benefits, but this time immolation aura is stronger.
- Fusion with imp (60% armor, 150% with meta) - lasts as long as you want, now you have all of imp's abilities. Your fire damage is increased by 30%, but you can't use shadow spells (except for dots). Metamorphosis lasts only 15 seconds there, but allows you to fly and cast while flying! No parachute effect after it wears off... ^^'
- Fusion with voidwalker (600% armor, 1200% with meta :P) - lasts as long as you want, your damage is decreased by 50%. You can bubble yourself for 12k. You are immune to shadow damage, but you can cast only shadow spells and immolate. Metamorphosis increases your range and movement speed by 50% for 30 seconds. Cool, isn't it? Especially with -50% damage...
- Fusion with felpuppy (150% armor, 400% with meta) - lasts as long as you want. You can eat 2 debuffs from friend or 2 buffs from enemy, with 4 seconds cooldown. Each buff/debuff eaten gives you 50% of your spell power as a heal. You also have a silence, and very high resistance to spells. Meta gives you usual benefits.
- Fusion with succubus (100% armor, 100% with meta) - lasts as long as you want, gives you a stealth, charming aura and seduction. A spell which breaks your stealth is always a critical. Now you can move and attack while seducing target (first attack breaks it). Charming aura gives you a 5% chance on every hit received to stun all enemies within 8 yards for 2 seconds without DR (that's why it's a low chance). Metamorphosis (lasts 15 seconds) enables you to cast while stealthed, but for 40% damage. While casting, you are much easier to be detected.
- Fusion with felguard (500% armor, 900% with meta) - lasts as long as you want, your spells now affect 3 targets, the second and third ones receive 50% of damage. You also gain some strange combo of disengage + stun, stunning target and getting away. Metamorphosis (lasts 1 second) isn't really a metamorphosis. It just summons Saurfang who cleaves all the enemies in the face. Available only to Horde characters.

An easy buff to Demo would be give our main demon (Felguard) a nice bleed effect and loosen up the range restriction on intercept. Also making demonic empowerment work on the caster as well as the demon.

Interesting idea...
But whyyyyyyy cant meta just be Permenant and lets call it a day?
Demo is VERY weak in PvE, they are like Shaman in BC; Buff Bi-atches. Demo Pact or Heroism, its why shammys were taken in BC, its why Demo locks are taken today.
Nerf the damage boost as nessersary. Down to 10%ish may do the trick. And I'd be Perma Meta RAWR!
All 'forms' have cons. Shadow means no holy spells, Bear makes you look butt ugly (budum-tish) and tree is just silly. Perhaps disable Soulshard spells?
Here is a simple Demo buff:
Meta no longer makes you considered Demon.
Meta is down to 10% damage Bonus
Meta is a 'form'
But Blizzard says 'TO MANY FORMZ!' and wont do this. EVER. They have actually stated they are considering making Shadowform and Treeform (and implied moonkin) to be Meta like spells. But this WAS an off-the-cuff statement by blizz, but they are adamant about making meta not a form. Shame...would be a 5min quick fix that would work to solve PvP and PvE probs.
You give us the best ability ever concieved, but then make it pathetic; the tree is unviable in PvE (only for a buff) when compared to Affliction/Destructo and is terrible in PvP. /vexxed
That's right, permanent 600% bonus armor, 10% damage, extra abilities, and 50% duration on stuns and snares isn't OP or anything.
Shadowform trades off their ability to cast Holy spells.
Moonkin druids can't heal in that form.
Tree druids can't go offensive in that form.
Cat/Bear has restrictions.
Right now, Meta has no such trade-off except for being a "demon," which is actually a plus because Polymorph/Seduction fails on you now. It cannot be a permanent form in it's current state. It would be blatantly OP.
/agreed
Permanent Meta in it's current form would be hella OP, and still wouldn't make the spec interesting enough to play (except for obvious faceroll reasons).
What the spec needs is one unique caster ability and a few tweaks. It's really not far off from being a really nice PvP spec.
One thing that would be hugely helpful besides the felguard tweaks I mentioned would be dispel protection for our DOTS as Demo. Make it a 45 pointer so it couldn't be abused by affliction or destro specs.

And demon speaks in demonic and is a demon (yay, banish >_>).
