I hate to double post but it seems that the priest thread is much more active... let me know if you have any input
I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to explain debuff limits on raid bosses... I have both a 70 lock and 70 shadow priest and was curious how this works in 25 mans. I dont recall ever seeing one of my dots/mind flay/VE be canceled out or resisted on a raid boss because of the debuff limit... does the wow UI warn you or state that you cannot apply another debuff because it has reached the limit.
My previous guild had multiple kills on Gruul and VR and our group make up usually looked like this for applying Debuffs.
3 Warlocks - 2 affliction 1 Demo (2UA, 2 Siphon Life, 3 CoA, 3 Corrup and 3 immolates and sometimes the %20 to non periodic shadow dmg depending on our crits)
1 Shadow Priest - VE, VT, SW:P
Shaman - Stormstrike
Warriors - Sunder, Bleed, Rend, Demo Shout, Thunderclap
Mages - Ignite, Scorch
That is way more than 16 debuffes on the mob at one time - now the guild was pretty good about keeping those dot's up at all times... Maybe I just wasnt paying close enough attention or were the dot's applied but just not ticking damage.
I have been playing this game for almost two years now and have finally decided to admit my newbhood and ask the question.

Any target in World of Warcraft may have up to 40 debuffs at any given time.

Moved to PVE

It was changed to 40 debuff slots around the same time the BC expansion changes were becoming public, and thus shadow priests were being made PVE-effective (little did we know they'd make us jokes in PVP :/)

Yea I usually wear healing gear in PVP and VT, SW:P then spam flash heal/pom on flag carrier, myself or party members around me. Sad but true
