Please, for the love of god, do not add to the population of death knights who have no experience past lvl 55...
and...
also there are too many DKs already. plus the rumour is Blizz will have smth special for druids in one of the up-coming expansions - we might become a new hero class =)
You're getting new skins for your forms.

All that is true, and also it's easier to get into a raid as ranged dps than melee dps.
And before you do some raids as dps, I'd stay away from tanking/healing.
Druids are also pretty fast to level, not as fast as DK's, but still fast. Not to mention druids' flight form makes it the best gathering class.

I have a lvl 80 druid and a lvl 80 death knight. Both are tanks, but i also tried DPS with both. Not like druid and DK were bad at DPS, but im a devoted tank player. Both the classes are pretty enjoyable.
My advice... get your druid to 55, try a death knight. You have to choose your class yourself, dont make people choose for you. Your choice can only be really valid if you get some experience with both the classes you choose from.
And a note about death knights... the beginning quests are a lot of fun, and they are simple. The initial part of outland is also simple, because you start your game equipped in superior quallity equipment that perfectly supports your role. 55-65 as a Death Knight is probably the most enjoyable leveling in WoW. But this doesnt make DKs any more fun when they reach 80. If you get to that level, and find out you do not really like the class, its probably too late already, and you are gonna stick with it just because its 80. Dont let the initial levels fool you, try to judge the class objectively.
Oh and do not care about what others tell you. You can play the game the way You like the most.

My DK and Druid are both 64...I try to level both of them, and I like it that way. I'll play my druid for a while, then switch and play my DK for a while.
Druids are hands-down the most versatile class in the game, and I would never trade my druid for anything. DK's are OP, and when played properly can easily solo any quest you recieve except instance quests.
I think they're both a lot of fun...start a DK and try it out...but I would get your druid to Outland first. DK's level really fast, go straight to Outland at 58, and continue to level extremely quickly, all the way to Northrend. If you stop playing your druid at 55, it will feel like it takes forever to level and get to Outland--because it will. So I would strongly suggest getting your Druid to 58 and go to Hellfire Peninsula before you start your Death Knight.
Regardless, they're both a ton of fun and very different playstyles, so play them both and see which you like more.
And don't forget...with 3.2, you will be able to get flyers at level 60...I'm not sure if you have however much gold it will take to buy a Death Kinght's flyer right away (it's currently 950g I believe, but I'm assuming they will drop the price like they have to everyone else's flyers), but you will be able to get flight form at 60 on your druid, for only a couple gold. And it will be 150% speed =)
Anyway, good luck, and whatever you do, have fun with it!

You dont really need to
do
anything to win against stuff...
This is the very reason that if you are goin to roll on a new server, starting a death knight is the way to go...but mainly only to fund your lower toons on that server.

Agreed that you should cap the druid first. THEN roll out the DK and you'll go that much faster. Also- look up the proper builds for a DK. Wowhead is great for that, my DK is actually "good" and I enjoy playing it more than I did when it was FOTM. The best part is that I can farm gold on the druid and feed my DK gear and gold.

Simple as this. Don't roll a Death Knight until you KNOW what endgame is, and can play your other toons well.
That way you won't fall into the tard category.

Just make a DK once you hit 55, play it for a few hours/days and see which char you like best?
