I'm not going to hug you. My ghoul will hug you if you want, but he has a bad habit of exploding =P
As for the release date, got no clue yet. Probably the end of this year (december sometime, maybe a bit earlier but unlikely) or january 09.

Right now, you have to level professions from 0 just like everyone else.

not really a faq question just wanted to know which you liked better deep frost or unholy.
if it wouldnt hurt you so much to type the pros and cons of them without beta bugs.
like which bttr downtime, relative skill, and dps comparisons at lvl 69 or 70.
I prefer unholy, but I havent played with frost or blood all that much.
Unholy = massive aoe, pretty much. That's the tree's primary strength right now (with the exception of scourge strike being bugged and doing 10k crits...) - I can say with full confidence that unholy DK's will be just as good as protection paladins for aoe tanking purposes, though we work slightly different. I can pull an almost infinite number of same-level mobs and kill them all within two rune cycles (20 seconds) with no outside help.
Frost = massive burst, the opposite to unholy. Where unholy focuses on doing small amounts of damage - but very quickly and passively (Dots, unholy blight, etc.), frost focuses on doing damage less often, but doing a -ton- of damage when it uses an ability. Howling blast is an aoe that can crit for several thousand damage, frost strike is a huge burst damage single-target effect. Frost also has a lot of slowing/snaring/attack speed reduction effects, lending it pretty good physical damage mitigation and helping it prevent kiting.
Blood = ... I dont know, the bastard child right now. Blood has good DPS, but doesnt have the aoe or burst damage of the other two trees. It also lacks any of the 'cool' effects from those trees. On the upside, blood is the easiest spec to play and probably scales the best with gear due to being heavily melee-focused, whereas the other two trees rely more on spell damage.
For endgame PvE, I think blood will end up being the preferred DPS spec, and frost will probably be the most popular tanking spec due to how many "oh crap" buttons it's got. Unholy will be just as good as frost at tanking, but wont be as forgiving if you screw up and will be harder to use when tanking heavy-hitting bosses.

Obliterate isnt changing, it's still useful for blood and frost (more for blood, frost tends to use excess frost runes on howling blast now).
They may make obliterate more useful for blood DK's so it isnt dropped completely.

Great thread, Visas! I read the whole thing and it answered a lot of my questions. Unfortunately, I have a couple more.
1) Say I have a pally toon on Server A that's 55+. I make a death knight. Bing! I have a pally toon and a death knight toon, yay! But that's the only death knight I can have on the server (Aww :( ) and I want to try a different spec without respeccing. So I hop over to the Server B on which I don't have a 55+ toon.
Now, you said:
Visas said:
Once you have bought and installed Wrath of the Lich King, all you need is one character on your -entire account- that is level 55 or higher.
which contradicts what I've heard in some other places, so I'd like to get it cleared up. By this, do you mean I need only the one 55+ toon on my entire account OR do I need to level my toons on Server B to 55?
You dont need to level up a character on server b to create a deathknight there. As long as you have one character that is 55+ on -any server-, you can create a dk on -any server-.
2) Also, I know that the starting area is instanced and there's this huge quest chain that you follow to level and learn your skill until, tadah! you're a free death knight. But at what level (about) would you say leaving Ebon Hold would be viable. I know someone mentioned that it would be stupid to leave early because the EH quests are the ones that give you the mount, talents, spells, etc that you need to be able to start in the Outlands, but when can I go to the Outlands?
You cannot leave until you have finished -all- quests in ebon hold, because all the quests are tied into each other for the instance's progression. Any way you try, you wont be able to leave until you do everything and get all the vital rewards.
You'll be level 58, or very close to 58, by the time you finish all of the ebon hold starting quests. I would suggest taking the time to kill a few extra mobs every chance you get (c'mon, slaughtering civilians is fun) because it will ensure that you reach level 58 by the time you finish the final quest.
You can go into outland at 58 minimum, so if you manage to hit 58 by the time you finish the starting quests you can head straight for the dark portal.
Oh, and one more...do you know if WotLK is available for pre-order yet?
I dont know, i havent been to any gaming stores recently. I would assume it is available, but they wont be able to tell you the release date.

Switching presences takes a rune of the appropriate type?
Yes
Does it reset Runic power if you switch, similar to warrior stance dancing?
No.
Does switching presences give some runic power? I'm assuming no.
No.
Could you presence swap your way into a blade barrier proc, to enter into a fight with the additional 10% parry?
Hm... if you were very quick it may be possible, still blade barrier only lasts 8 seconds so it wouldnt be worthwhile - i'd rather start a fight with enough runes to generate threat, not a small extra bit of parry.
