Without further ado, Robert shot the inquisitor through both wrists.
"Vagrin, be a darling and take off the hood, please."

The hooded figure fell to their knees. This time the voice had no further insults to say, instead it waited patiently and silently. Meanwhile Vagrin had turned several shades paler, "err, ye're sure laddie?" the dwarf asked. To say he was scared to death would not have been a suitable description, but the former paladin certainly did not feel confident nor did he feel comfortable around the inquisitor... Something about the human, if that was truly what it was, felt wrong.

"It can be damaged, Vagrin. Worst case situation - I end it here and now. I alone am to blame. Oh, and take away that darned scythe, please," Robert said encouragingly.
"Unless you want to start talking, inquisitor."

Vagrin nodded and kicked the scythe away into the far corner of the room. "You may end me, but you will not end
us
," the inquisitor hissed. "Should I, err, pull th' hood awey now laddie?" the dwarf hesitated, evidently not too sure if
it
could be damaged.

"If it is an eldritch monstrosity posing as an agent of Holy Light, then it is all the better that we destroy it," Robert reasoned.

"Righ'," said the dwarf, evidently not convinced this was going to end well.
"Well, 'ere goes nothin',"
the dwarf thought, slowly but steadily starting to remove the inquisitor's hood.

Robert was not quite as nervous as Vagrin. The fact that he held the inquisitor at gunpoint helped.

It's been a while now. Wonder how long 'll this take...where are we going? I long to be back aboard.
Were those gunshots? Nah, that was just another mug handled without care.
Thirsty. I need another drink.

The dwarf gave a sharp intake of breath as the hood fell away, revealing tanned, golden skin and long blonde hair instead of some form of hideous monstrosity. After his initial surprise the dwarf's sense of unease returned, perhaps even to a greater extent than before - not only did the voice not match the body it was contained within, but the eyes did not either. As the dwarf met the inquisitor's hostile gaze, it felt as if hundreds of years of despair and hatred were pressing down upon him.

"How about you start to talk?" Robert inquired, pressing the barrel right between Varall's eyes.

"Aye," growled the dwarf, regaining his composure. "An' fast, now tha' I know ye're nought some 'orrible innocent-killin' creature I'm no' feelin' tha' kindly ter ye," he added. "Go ahead, make my day," the voice taunted, evidently not feeling it's safety was at risk.

"
This isn't over
," the inquisitor hissed, collapsing to the ground.
"Err, wha' now?" Vagrin asked, after several moments silence, noting the pool of blood that was forming.

"You feel it, do you not? It only looks like us," Robert said, putting one of his guns into a holster and picking up his bowie knife.
"I want to see what happens now."

"Aye laddie... But wha' 'xactly are ye plannin' on doin' wit' tha' knife?" the dwarf asked, turning over the unconscious body. Somehow the dwarf felt like he was missing something, but he could not quite work out what.

"Put it in the sheath," Robert deadpanned, returning the knife to his left boot and reaching for the flashbang on the floor - still keeping Varall at gunpoint, of course.
"What, did you think I'd cut it open and see if it looks human on the inside as well?"

That must've been a gun,
Marcus thought when the earlier noise repeated itself.
Upstairs? Who --
"Not what I meant!" he exclaimed, the recent conversation emerging in his mind.
Oh, this is really bad.

The dwarf stared at Rob for a few moments, "err... ye, meybe? Bu' now tha' yer not goin' ter, d'ye think we ought ter heal it up? Stop it from bleedin' out tha' is, and meybe we ought ter take a look 'round ter."

"You think so? We heal it up, it immediately goes slash-happy," Robert shrugged. "I'd say what we should do now is remove its weapons. Especially that darn scythe, it gives me the creeps."

"If we dinnae heal it I dinnae think it's gonna be recoverin' enough ter tell us enythin'," the dwarf commented, pulling the inquisitor's swords out of their sheathes and then gently tossing them into the corner where the scythe lay - well out of reach. "'Less ye think we ought ter try wake it up firs' an' see wha' happens?"
