I'm not agreeing with anybody here, i'm just wondering, has anybody tried like the guy here suggested, or is everyone defending EJ cause it's EJ?
That sounds alot like "hey, they said it on the tv, it must be true"...

Everybody is defending EJ because they are backed by HOURS of in-game testing. The theory is backed by practical application.

Actually i'm not sure you're aware of how you calculate the DPS of an ability.
In order for Holy Wrath to do more DPS than CS i'll demonstrate what's required.
HW CD
: 30 Sec
CS CD
: 4 Sec
HW TopDMG
: 1234 + 0.07 * SPH + 0.07 * AP
CS DMG
: 75% Weapon dmg
Some numbers out of my ass: 1200 SP, 4000 AP, Avg Weapon swing: 1730 (using betrayer of humanity and previously stated AP).
HW TopDMG
: 1234+84+280 = 1598
CS DMG
: 1297,5
HW DPS
: 1598/30=53,266666666666666666666666666667
CS DPS
: 1297,5/4=324,375
In other words for HW to pass CS on dps you would need 7 mobs in close proximity.
And i didnt add SoV procs to that which will only proc from CS out of the two. So that's another 33% weapon damage.
SoV Proc
: 1730*0,33=570,9
SoV DPS
: 570,9/4=142,725
CS ActualDPS
: 324,375+142,725=467,1
# of mobs for HW to pass CS
: 467,1/53,266666666666666666666666666667=8,7690863579474342928660826032535 or 9
I will only mention the fact that CS has more damage increasing talents than HW, to amplify the above calculations.
The FCFS rotation is based around using your highest DPS abilities the most, not the highest damage abilities.
If you are able to prove that you do more damage when not prioritizing CS then there's alot to evolve.
What you seem to be forgetting with the 3.2 CS nerf is that we also got SoV to proc from CS attacks now which basically means..
CS had it's CD reduced from 6 to 4 seconds. Pure weapon damage from the skill itself was reduced from 110% to 75%, but it procs SoV increasing that by 33% holy damage. Making it basically 108% on a 4 sec CD instead of 110% on a 6 sec CD.(I know previously we had SoB to proc from CS but SoV does 33% weapon damage every 4 sec instead of 48% every 6sec which means it's used 33% more often making it only slightly less damage, comparison would be CS+SoV: 151.89% weapon damge, CS+SoB 158% weapon damage)
You kinda proved yourself to be wrong with your last statement.
On a raidboss I am currently hitting Exorcism, Judgement and CS for 5-7K 15-20 sec into the fight and my CS only hits for 3,5-4,5K..
Those seem like fair numbers, but take into account that you'll use CS two times as much as judge, 2.5 times as much as DS and 3.75 times more than exo (i assumed that it was a typo from your part mentioning CS twice and assumed the first one should be DS).
Once again the concept of the FCFS "rotation" is to use your top DPS abilities the most, not your top damaging.
You dont get your job done as a DPS doing 100k burst every 1 minute rather than a sustained 2000 DPS.

I guess I should have kept in mind that this site does not appreciate thinking outside the box or...dare I say it, disagree with what is apparently written in stone at EJ.
Um, I'd have to say that we created a prot dps spec, rotation, and existance, so politely take your cynicism and shove it.
And yes, what EJ says is law. Know why? Because they are Elitist Jerks, elitist coming from the term elite aka: Leet/1337
Aka: They know more about this game than you do because they live and breathe the math that is behind and makes up this entire game.
