Horrible spec.
1. You picked anticipation rather than hit.
2. You skipped Necrosis.
3. You skipped Reaping.
4. You talented into Ghoul Frenzy, possibly the worst talent.
5. You picked Desecration which means nothing at such a low level: you will probably hit for max 500, x1.05 = 525, a mediocre boost.
6. You picked wandering plague at a level where you should solo most often and where your diseases do so little damage it will hardly be noticeable.
Funny enough, you picked the gargoyle which you will most probably never use.
Best leveling specs are blood specs because it gives you 0 downtime and alot of survivability.

Agreed over the most part, but you epic fail in 5 and 6 and the comment about the gargoyle and saying blood is the best.
This would be a better spec imho:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#jZZfMhIh0dxcq0csut
At his low level, most outland mobs are in seperate areas and you could barely get 3 together to use good AoE.
And desecration, 5 points for 5% of little to no damage because he just got to outlands, this would be far better put in Necrosis for 20% extra magic damage. He's leveling, not twinking, so the 50% snare is quite useless.
I leveled my DK as UH from 60 till 72, i never used the gargoyle; mobs died way before i even had the chance to get the runic power.
In WOTLK, blood really shined, i could solo those hard 3+ players elites like nothing and killed unholy DKs along the way. Oh well, IMHO blood is better at leveling, but suit yourself.
NB: he's 62, not 80 and not raiding.

Blood received a bit of a hit when they have to roll DS but with the healing nerf on it. Not that it's particularly killed the spec or the ability, just the soloing aspect has received a bit of pounding in that regard.
We have since made another hotfix to just change the way the healing works completely. It now heals 5% of the death knight's health per disease on the target, up to a max of 15%. This should allow Frost and Unholy to benefit from Death Strike healing while letting Blood benefit from extra Death Strike damage. The tooltip will not reflect this change until we can patch the client.

Wow, I love the "barely get three mobs together in Outlands" comment. My DK leveled Unholy and you use the same concept a Hunter uses to gather mobs for AoE Gorila Thunderstomp action (well, now all Tenacity pets have it, but whichever). You get one or two through IT, DG, DC while targeting more and sending your Ghoul to those to gather them. I very easily AoEed 5-7 down at once through Outlands. It was even easier in Northrend to do this. 6 Vrykul in a village? No problem.
Gargoyle will be rarely used while leveling. You simply kill too quickly. Instances are a different story. I wouldn't take it if I was leveling again.
Unholy though, mandates the use of OaPH and IUP. These will greatly speed up your leveling time, especially in some parts of Northrend (Sholazar, anyone?).

To be honest, at 58 I would do something like
this
.
You won't need Epidemic. If a fight lasts long enough for Epi to be a factor, you probably are fighting an Elite which will be a much more rare situation than standard leveling scenarios. Mind you, this is for leveling only; at 80, grab it, at least one point, though I would max it.
My theory with IUP and OaPH is this: if you were mounted, say, 60% of the time you spent leveling, maybe IUP would be less valuable. As it stands, you only mount to go to/from town, questing sub-region, etc. The rest of your time will be spent hoofing it on the ground, just you and your Ghoul, going from mob to mob, item to item, node to node. You don't mount up to go 20 feet to your next mob. You run to it, Leap your Ghoul, DC on the way if you like, whatever. But you're not going to mount to do it unless the mob is a fair distance away. So, you're going to be walking a great deal from 55-80 and a 15% reduction off the time that takes you is nothing to laugh at.
Let's say it takes 5 days (120 hours) /played to go 55-80. If even 30% of that time (36 hours) is spent walking on the ground going from mob to mob, that's 4 hours saved right there. I don't see many other talents that say, "here's 4 hours more free time." Mind you,
these numbers are just estimates: I don't know how long the average DK takes to ding 80 (though I would say 6 or 7 days is a fair estimate) and I don't know how much time one actually spends walking, mounted, in combat, etc. This is just napkin math, so take that as you will
IUP is still completely worth the two points. It's almost like saying, "your XP per hour is increased by X," but this comes with the added bonus of the talent saying, "kiting is easier now for quick escapes" or "catch the running Murloc faster before he calls more of his annoying friends." It's survivability, an XP increase, and more free time all in one. Where else would you put the points?

On A Pale Horse does not stack with any other movement speed increases. Unless you plan on not raiding or spending a lot of time doing dailies/pvp and etc. OaPH is weaker then IUP, seeing as IUP will work even inside a raid instance whereas you must be mounted for OaPH.
We're discussing leveling AFAIK according to the OP. Besides, IUP doesn't modify mounted speed; OaPH does. You grab both because you will do plenty of traveling while leveling, both mounted and un-mounted. They both save you time and, frankly, you cannot ever have enough time.
Raid builds, though? Drop OaPH.

Wow. This is turning into a great thread - Derv and L, solid input. Anyone want to weigh in against Derv's most recent
spec
?
Lynri is usually spot-on with the factual stuff. He (She?) and I differ a fair amount on some of the finer points, like the benefit of movement increases to melee, but we're fairly amicable and logical about the points we're making. It's good to do this with people because it keeps you thinking about why someone thinks the way s/he does.
Plus, Lynri never launches personal attacks at people differing in opinion, which is a large plus in my book. We don't need that here.

I would seriously like to know if building out Unholy is 'the best' for fast leveling or if they are just offering up help based on your request to build unholy.
It's wierd... I have yet to see a clearcut (Level using this build) like you see for the other classes :)
You almost (almost) cannot go wrong as a DK for leveling. Whereas some classes have specs that NEED certain talents, DKs don't really suffer too much from this syndrome. Yes, we have some amazing talents, but we're not extremely dependent on them to make a spec work for leveling.
DKs are weird.
This being said, I leveled Unholy. I raid as Unholy. Hell, I dual-specced Unholy to try some testing out versus 12/0/59 and 0/10/61. If I do reroll a DK (Orc this time instead of BE), I'll be UH again.
