I played WoW very briefly before Burning Crusade dropped, but because of "life" I had to stop my MMO time completely. I had avoided WoW on my initial forays into MMO land, simply because I had several friends who were big into EQ who claimed that "WoW had no background, no history, no detailed lore." And I bought into their opinions.
However, being bored with City of Heroes, I picked WoW back up when Burning Crusade was released (and in fact my main is the first character I created when I started playing again).
Having never witnessed a lot of the game in the month before I left, one of the first things that I did when I started playing again was to go exploring. At the time I had completed the quests on Azuremyst and had run all the way to Stormwind to quest with some friends, so as I was looking around the human capital I made my way up to Stormwind Keep, which I hadn't been to before.
As I wandered into the throne room, I noted that there were several higher-level characters there, and Lady Katrana Prestor was saying something unusual - something about Bolvar being a fool.
And then all hell broke loose.
Prestor turned into a giant, very-upset-looking black dragon. A few moments later, I found myself dead, laying underneath the body of a Black Dragonkin.
My initial reaction was to curse. But then it got me interested, and so I started reading up on lore, learned about Onyxia, and continued from there.
When I saw my EQ friends the next time, I laughed at them. They asked why, and I simply replied, "WoW has plenty of lore - it melted my face off in Stormwind Keep, that's how much lore it has."

My favorite moment involves the dreaded and despised Murlocs...GRRR
Most of you have fallen victim to the gurgling murlocs and the way they aggro their friends. My favorite moment occurred in Redridge Mountains when I was on my level 18 Night Elf Hunter Christianna. The camp had roughly 12 murlocs and I ended up pulling the whole camp. I was pretty new at all my skills but utilized feign death, bandages, pots, my cat Bigglesworth and everything else I could think of. Finally after 8-10 minutes or so of epic battle, I cleared the camp. It was awsome to FINALLY show a murloc camp who ruled the roost.
Now that I am level 70, I have to save those damn murlocs on a daily basis in exchange for some rep & coin......GEESH!

When I decided to start playing an MMO, I got trial versions of WoW and EQ2. I was playing both at the same time and I remember the deciding factor for choosing WoW over EQ2 was the beauty of the Night Elf's starting areas.
But Ashenvale was the best of them. It is probably still my favorite zone in the whole game.
So my favorite WoW moment(s) has to be the time I spent questing in Ashenvale for the first time and how in awe that zone made me feel. I never enjoyed the game as much as I enjoyed it back then.

My favorite three memories:
Getting Exalted with the Netherwing for the first time on my Warrior. It gave me a sense of accomplishment, and not to mention I was able to create an awesome mini-story line for my character.
The first time I PvP'd on my warrior was also fun..Level 17, in Warsong Gulch, and getting owned...I couldn't stop for 3 hours straight of WSG...when it could ravage on for hours on end..I often got killed by a rogue named Aphex. Ahhh, The good old days :)
The absolute best, however, was just flat out starting the game for the first time. I remember it clear as day. My first toon was not a tauren, but a Night Elf Warrior by the name of DarkTezirit. I was taken by total awe of the night elf scenery, and the music. I just did ONE quest, then spent the rest of the time exploring the newbie zone, getting used to the shops..My first ever friend on the game was a 60 Dwarf Hunter, met on the Darnassian General Chat...Seeing made me think he was a general..after I had met him. :) I wonder how he is.

Well i guess my favourite moment in WoW was when i first reach lvl 58.
I have like 7 in real life friends that play wow on my realm too and so we joined all together in a raid group and went from SW to Blasted Lands with our mounts (60% ones) but not running, we pressed / and we went there just walking.
Many people saw that and my friends asked them if they would like to join and some of them joined too.
When we finally reached Dark Portal they made like a ''ceremony'' with all nice sentences etc :p
Then we passed through the portal and i was like ''Omg''
And to end this up all my friends and some of the unknown players that joined offered me some gifts, my friends offered me some epic items of lvl 60 and some of lvl 70, other one offered me the money for the 100% mount, and other ones simply offered me some gold or blue/green items with enchants on :D
It was a great moment that i'll never forget :p
PS: Some time after that another friend of us reached lvl 58 and we did him the same thing :) I offered him almost the full set of Arcanist (Epic set for mages lvl 60) :D

Its so much great in this game, Graphic ( Gonna get even better at wotlk), Enviornment, and the game itself. But one of the greatest moment in the game must have been the time i started playing basicly, afterwards i found a guy that helped me how to play this fantastic game and it got even more fun when he told me about the game itself. That guy is stil my best friend in game.
The time i got to level 70 for the first time and where now able to explore the whole game and enjoy it even more and nothing could stop me now. It was the time i became a WoW player.
