my favourite moment in wow is when I reached lvl 70 in shadowmoon valley and instantly went to buy a flying mount, the feeling when I got on my mount and saw the city get smaller and smaller was just amazing.

First of all,
I kinda pity whoever has to read through ALL these stories. The competiton isn't even 9hours up, and there's well over 2,000 posts so far... :O
I have been playing wow for nearly 9 months now. I've got a T4 Hunter, that can out-DPS a T6 Rogue (in a raid), a lvl 63 Demonology Warlock, that can easily kill any horde of equal level (apart from rogues, I hate rogues >.< ) and countless little alts scattered over about 6-7 servers.
I've got a lot of good stories, but this was the funniest.
A month or 2 ago, I was in Gruuls Lair with my guild, we destroyed King Mauglar *cough* after 2 wipes, one of which was because of Bitey, my Ravager with the intelligence of an especially thick plank of wood. I was hugging the wall of the cave, but Bitey decided he wanted to go closer the boss and see why everyone was being so careful about not pulling it. Bitey pulled, got 1-hitted by Mauglar, my FD got resisted, so I suffered the same fate as Bitey, half the raid got a repair bill, while the other half managed to escape.
Once Mauglar was down, we waltzed through the trash and gathered outside Gruuls chamber. Everyone was rebuffing and some people were getting into position, a new guy to the guild, wasn't hugging the wall, and.... did what Bitey did 15 minutes earlier. No-one was ready, our MT charged in dragged gruul slowly to the center, with healers heal-spamming. Ranged DPS, spread out, Melee, went to Gruul, and healers healed frantically, we only had 22 people at this stage, the MT died from a very bad shatter after a minute or 2, which left us with 18 people, we struggled through, around 10% our last tank died, a surv hunter got aggro, and he didn't die.... Dodge, Dodge, (he popped ), everyone was laughing on ventrilo. Gruul didn't get a single hit in for nearly 15 seconds (with dodges/parrys before + after Deterrence was popped), during that time, everyone left alive popped everything available to them, I did, Drums of Battle, Rapid Fire, Bestial Wrath, any trinket not on CD. every shammy popped heroism + brought out elementals (if they had them), frost mages brought out water elementals.
It was insane. But then our hunter/tank got hit, he was healed, but not enough for the next hit, which was a crit... Gruul was at 2% and running all over the place. But he was killed in the end with only 4 people left alive... on ventrilo, no-one had stopped laughing. Our hunter/tank was first to be ressed.
The whole fight was a mess, the guild has Gruul/Maggy on farm, and we made such a hash of it. But, damn, it was worth the repair bill :P
in the time it has taken me to type this, over 300 people have posted :O

All my favourite moments are PVP stories, of course, but the most worthy one which sticks in my head:
When we first rolled on Ursin, my best friend had a Destro 'lock and I had a paladin. Now, in those days we were 50 something. We'd been on the giving and receiving ends of PVP and had a pretty good feel for how it works. One of our lower level friends clued us in that some guy was camping in Redridge. We decided we'd go have a look. It's an orc warrior, bedecked in rank earned PVP gear, whereas my warlock and I are lowly corporals, clutching our shiny new PVP trinkets.
He's on one end of the bridge. We're on the other. He's dinged up a little from guards.
My warlock friend steps up, Deathcoils him (It did have the horror at this point), curses him, ignites and conflags him for 3k because of negative resists. He dies instantly.
We spent the next forty-five minutes camping him across the river, into Duskwood and on, before he finally gave us the slip near Moonbrook in Westfall.
But nothing else in the game has ever made me laugh quite as much as watching little level 54 Asali turn this decked out Warlord into a greasy streak on the bridge in the span of two heartbeats.

Opening the AQ gates against impossible odds. Originally I just wanted to get the mount and fly below the radar and be left alone. Unfortunately, the horde didn't want to leave me alone.
At that point, I thought to myself, "I'm smarter than these people, what am I worried about!", and started figuring out ways to get around the massive horde army that was expected to show up. I started scouting out the area around the gong for places to hide out. I showed a few of the other alliance scepter holders some good places to hide with walljumping and shadowmeld/stealth; they were kitted out with invisibility potions and flasks of petrification and anything you could imagine. Meanwhile, I took more extreme measures.
6 hours before the gong became ringable, I went down to the gong area, and nudged myself underneath the gong while still on the platform. After making sure nobody was around to see it in the combat log, I used the Crystal of Zin'Malor to kill myself, thus completely hiding my corpse. Then I released and ran back, nudged my ghost underneath the gong, and waited patiently for 6 hours.
Right before the gong became ringable, there were about 100 horde randomly aoe'ing the gong and trying to coordinate things. As soon as the graphic switched over, I res'd, switched trinkets quickly, clicked the gong, turned in the quest, and ran like hell.
It was the single most complicated series of events I've ever pulled off, and it was awesome.

My most memorable moment would have to be running BRD for the first time with a pally tank. We'd been looking for a tank for over an hour and finally a paladin responded. I'd never heard of a pally tanking but he said to trust him. I invited him and after the first couple pulls I was amazed. After one of the most successful BRD runs I'd ever experienced, I logged off and started a paladin. Now at 70 I couldn't imagine playing anything but my tankadin.

My greatest WoW experiences are from finding the Guild that I have and being able to be a part of this community that we have created thought both the hard times, and the good. From never getting in BWL, and barely doing MC. To being in Teir 6. This has been a great experience. I love my guild, and I could never be in another at this point.

Haha, one of the best moments i had playing wow was back there when i started to play 3 years ago, when some friends lvl 60 took me and another friend to a run in the Deadmines, i barely played the game and a a lock summoned me and "boom" i was at Sentinel Hill, i walked all the way to VC died alot, and the moment i most loved, the one get me in love with World of Warcraft was when the Smite says after blowing the docks doors "You! Check out that noise", "Avast the swabs, repel the invaders". Boy this moment i will never forget so cool.

My favorite moment came just the other day. I was questing my level 62 holy priest in Zangarmarsh. I hugely underestimated the aggro range on some naga, and soon found myself surrounded and being bombarded from all angles.
Being holy, and being overly squishy, this was a bad predicament. I began to make my escape, only to realize I was nearly out of mana. Still, I continued to run, followed by at least 6-7 angry mobs, being ranged down. At 188 hp left, I should have layed down and just died, but I managed to pull off one last renew, and fear...then made my heroic escape.
Sure, they were non-elite, non-70 mobs...but to have a squishy oom priest survive that, felt like I had won the olympics.

I had just rolled my rogue, I was brand new to the game and it was my first character. I was in Durotar by the skull cave thing (by the coast). I took a gander to the right and saw the coast. Me being the entrepid explorer I am decided i was going to swim up the coast and see where it lead me. Well i got pretty far and saw a big crab dude with a Skull on his head and ? level. I didnt know any better, i stealthed over and proceeded to attack this creature. Of course, i got drop kicked and had quite a long corpse run... from the azshara graveyard lol.
Well a month or two rolled by and i remembered that crab and how he had wronged me on the east coast. So i swam out there, with my new level 60 and demolished this crab out of some long lost vendetta. I felt great for the revenge, i actually stayed there and killed him 3 times (waited for his respawn) before i left. I logged off that day w/ a smile =)

My favorite moment, or at least my most epic moment, was when I got my first epic item at level 60. I had been running UBRS pretty much every day, for a few weeks, and the Chromatic Carapace finally dropped! I still remember that I rolled a 42, and thought I had lost it. The other warrior in the group only rolled a 33 though! Being a noob like I was at the time, I had no idea what it was for, but I didn't want to sound like a jerk and ask the group about it. Eventually I found out that I had to do the quest to get an epic breastplate, and I got some help from my guildees in getting the mats. When all I had left were the Abomination Stitchings from Stratholme, I had the terrible luck of none dropping in three straight runs. Finally on the last run that I could do that night, four dropped, exactly how many I needed! I handed in the quest, and got my first epic equipment! I still have it in my bank on my warrior.
