It should be refreshing it when you cast chimera, as if you just shot another serpent sting. same goes for if you get more ap when you cast chimera, your serpent will increase even though you didnt actually refresh it yourself.
also, from what i have seen, atov applies its 50% nerf seperately from all debuffs you apply, meaning that you serpent with viper on, switch to dragonhawk=100% damage again. correct me if im wrong though.
edit: think i was wrong on the aotv part actually.

I'm pretty sure your wrong Cooldud. Whatever the AP value you have when you cast a serpent sting is what it stays with. Even when refreshed or your extra AP runs out. That's why you cast a new serpent sting whenever I get extra AP, then just keep refreshing with Chimera.

Last I heard, it only matters how much AP you have when you
first
cast serpent sting. When you cast Chimera to refresh it keeps the same AP value it started with. That's what i thought at least, wth is KR when you need him?

I suppose this could be tested on a target dummy by firing a serpent sting on it and then switching to Cheetah and see if Chimera Shot hits for less damage, and if Serpent Sting ticks for less damage, after the switch.
