So im reading MMO-Champion and i come across the itemization changes.
Source
Itemization
* MP5: This will be removed from items and replaced with Spirit. All healers will be given a meditation-like ability.
* Spell Power: Spell Power is being removed from items as well. Don't panic, we'll be improving Intellect so that it provides mana and Spell Power.
* Attack Power: We're removing Attack Power from items as well. Instead, we're allowing Agility to provide the necessary Attack Power for leather and mail wearers. Strength will provide the appropriate amount of Attack Power for plate wearers. This means leather and mail items will no longer be desirable for plate wearers.
* Defense: The Defense statistic is also being removed from items so that players no longer have to worry about juggling around "the cap." Tanks will receive the necessary anti-crit from talents, like Survival of the Fittest.
* Armor Penetration: This ability is too confusing and "mathy." It is being replaced with Mastery, a stat that makes you better at what you do. More on that later!
* Haste: Will also increase the rate at which you gain energy, runes, and focus. Retribution paladins and Enhancement shaman will have a talent that allows them to take advantage of this benefit.
* Block: Block Value is being removed. Blocking will now always mitigate a percentage of damage.
* Stamina: Players will notice more Stamina on gear as Defense, Spell Power, Attack Power and Armor Penetration are removed.
Edit 1 -
Leveling and tree points
Path of the Titans
* Talent trees won't be extended, you will just get 5 more talent points.
* The Path of the Titans will let players follow a path (not restricted to classes), this is a new talent system with new skills and passive abilities.
* A mastery system is being added as well, a lot of talents will be reworked to be more fun. The point is to get rid of a lot of the talent skills and not make you spend all your points in a talent tree just because it gives you more damage or higher crit chance.
Edit 2 - reforigng?
Reforging
* Reforging is another way to customize your gear.
* It will be relatively cheap, you will need a Blacksmith / Leatherworker / Tailor / Jewelcrafter / Engineer to do it. Each profession get to reforge a type of items.
* It lets you reduce one stat for another. Some restrictions will apply, you can't put the extra stat on something that is already on the item.
Edit 3 - Priest Changes
Shadow Priests will most likely get a nuke without cooldown in Cataclysm.
I will try and update this as more priest changes come but, no more spell power? was Northrend merely a setback?

* Attack Power is also gone.
* Agility now provides 2 AP for rogues, hunters, shaman, and druids. Plate-wearers won't steal your gear anymore!
hum... ok... agility provides a stat that is gone.
Those changes seem really to wierd for me to believe half of them. Is it a blizz-stated source? a misunderstood leak? really, those changes are ABOLUTELY SENSELESS.
The path of titans is aion all over. This seems really like someone's been having fun. If this is, however, with decent sources... I'm shock.
edit2: i'm sorry, but:
* Mana/5 sec is gone. Spirit now regenerates mana.
* All healers will get a Meditation like skill. (In combat regeneration)
*
Spell Power is also gone. Intellect now provides mana AND Spell Power
* Hunters and Enhancement Shamans won't have to worry about intellect anymore
Mana 5 is gone, spirit gives mana. If spirit gives mana and mages/lock use mana, than they won't have to worry about it. wait... what?
Hunters and shamans use mana. They don't need a stat that raises mana. Ahm... wait...
Really, that is totally against what blizzard has been doing.

Where did it say that spirit gave mana?

Where did it say that spirit gave mana?
Spirit is now the way to regen mana... I'm not saying it gives mana points, i'm saying it gives mana back.
skipped the source (better, read it and while writing forgot where that was from ^^'), my bad. Ahm... I admit i admire their nerve. Those changes are a complete, complete revamp to our system, NOTHING like BC-WLK. If it works out, we shall see. Maybe they understood they were overcomplicating and instead of fixing classes, they fix mechanics.
I'll wait to see more. We can be missing something Blizzard didn't (that spellpower change sounds a bit ominous...). Presented out-right with those facts, it seems quite stupid and wierd, but... maybe not.
That Agility-2AP when AP is gone still looks fishy, tough it can simply be given as an example of how Agility will scale better than it did before.
BC-WLK was a disaster... Maybe a new light is shining there. Time will tell.
Have faith....
EDIT: Those changes really don't seem to affect priests that much (apart from the spellpower one).
Also, changes apart, the new features seem interesting. Still very confusing about how they'll do it, but it's still a lot of time till Cataclysm's out... we'll get more details with time. Particularly that Mastery one. I'm really curious abot it. So, our trees now will be fun? No more increases crit by 1/2/3/4/5%, but more Makes your Flash of Light have a chance to make GHeal's cast time reduced by 0,1s, stacking to 5 times? Is it something of this sorts they're planning?

Those changes really don't seem to affect priests that much (apart from the spellpower one). And the regen one. Because
Mages and Warlocks won't have to deal with Spirit on their gear anymore.
I.e., it looks like Bliz is going to go back to a more refined gearing scenario. So anything with spirit on it will be for healers, anything with hit will be for dps casters, and anything with neither will be up for grabs. Just my hunch, but hey, that's about as much as we have to go on.
I'm all for changes that are simpler in the end, even if they seem more confusing now.

If you read the whole source material, it states how Hunters will be using the same resource as their pets, but as for Mages and Locks not needing mana regen?
The one that I am a little wierded by was that haste will make runes and focus come back faster.....which makes sence, but is it really needed?

They're saying that AP won't be on gear, just as Spell Power also won't be -- but it will still exist, and as they said, Agility and Int will give those stats, respectively.
They're making gearing much more flexible, and cutting down on a lot of the math. There won't be as much, "Should I stack Int or Spell Power" as a Holy Paladin, for example.
They're also removing Defense from gear, and you will no longer have to aim for the "cap." Now all anti-crit abilities will be within Talents.
You can find all this information EVERYWHERE -- wow.com, mmo-champion.com ... really, if you haven't seen this, are you not connected to the interwebs? XD Frontpage mmo-champion.com FTW.

I like these ideas a lot. SP and Mana are both INT based. Regen comes from Spirit instead of Spirit AND mp5. We get a nuke off cooldown (btw, MF is a channeled spell and can hardly be called a nuke.) We can reforge eq --- so when you get those boots that are all filled up with haste but you want crit, take them to you favorite loom and reforge them into something useful. Plus, it makes tailoring a good profession again and a possible money maker.

Edit: Btw, they wanted to make the trees more about choices than 'must-haves', how does this fit in the 'No more defense-rating, now you got a talent that makes you crit-immuni', I'd say that talent is pretty darng much a must have for tanks.
...which is nothing new if you're a feral tank. I think it's an equalization. I'm giddy at the thought of how much stam and/or strength I can stack on my gear now that I don't have to waste enchants/gems on any +def.

stuff.
You read what i said afterwards, haven't you?
And i personally prefer the multistat way, but i do not know till if it was better or fairer. As I said before, what is there about changes (not new featrues) seems quite confusing and strange, but maybe it will work out better. The new features sound indeed interesting.
And a nuke without cooldown to Shadow is doors open to a new talent to make it instant, like PoM, or Backdraft procs. Might get a new taste to our rotation, and a new way of thinking pvp. They probably mean a true cast with 2.5+s cast time (Mind Flay is a channel, might be why they do not consider it a nuke).

Sorry for the double-post, but it has nothing to do with my previous one.
Ahm... look at what wowhead blog says on changes:
(...)a complete revamp of existing gear, as well as a total reconstruction not just of the quests that lead you through the original zones, but of the zones THEMSELVES. Thousand Needles is being flooded. The Barrens is being split into two zones. Desolace is green and growing. Azshara is a lowbie leveling zone. Zones are being condensed so you spend fewer levels in each one.
Guild levelling, and Guild achievements
New Character Progression: "Path of the Titans". Not sure what this means.
New Secondary Skill: Archaeology
Rated Battlegrounds
Heroic Classic Instances: Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep
Blizzard... kudos. If those really come to life, just... wow. BC-WotLK transition was really a mere setback. THIS is an expansion, not a big fat patch with a new class and a few tweaks.

Seriously, this is crap. Half of the fun was playing your gear and deciding which piece to keep or to dump, the theorycrafting on Elitist jerk, the Rawr simulations if you really wanted to sqeeze out max dps.
You actually have sites like ElitistJerks to thank for these changes. We who calculate the upgrades and stats ourselves are actually a minority. The majority check the BiS-lists, or sites like wowhead with the comparision tool.
Blizzard is reasoning like this, if most people will end up checking a list or just comparing items, then why not make them be able to do that ingame by just comparing less confusing stats than the current ones?
In the end it's the "hardcore" (if you can call anyone who theorycrafts hardcore) that gets hurt, like always.
Because we're a dying breed.
