Sorry, World of Warcraft
requires
an internet connection and an account to be played.
The account costs roughly $15 USD per month.

If you don't want him playing online with foul-tounged jerks who will scar him for life, just say no.
:D a woman asked me if the game was suitable for her kid
i'm like: the game itself is fine, he'll just meet jerks online
and then she walked away from the game
but it is true, WoW does have older and very immature players on it
if you play WoW yourself and can ensure that your child is in a decent guild where they remove rude players, and you make sure that your kid doesn't play late night, doesn't have ventrilo/voice chat (because you can't filter that) and is sure that the mature language filter is on, it should be fine
but you have to check the guild mates and chats often ;)

There are also time controls so your child cannot play during certain hours. All of this information can be found on the official website,
www.worldofwarcraft.com
under Parental Controls.

I`d say, filtering wow experience is much easier then filtering experience in RL.
Let him play on RP server, people are really serious there about what you say and so on.

I started on an RP server, and it was much cleaner than the PvP server I am on. Like people said, play with your kid and be in a family oriented guild that makes sure people in the guild watch what they say. These guilds usually don't progress that far, but you probably don't want your kid playing 10 hours a day in a guild with high progression heh.
