I think fury can do good. For instance, fury interrupts casters more because or the amount of times you hit them.
MS hits hard, but bloodthirst with good gear will hit harder. Fury will do overall more dps, you just dont get to put a healing debuff on someone.
It all depends on what you are trying to do.
Say POM pyro can kill fast and ice mage has survivability. That is how you can compare a fury vs arms warrior. Arms will stay alive longer while fury will do about 30% more damage.
Sword and board works better for fury too as your bloodthirst will do the samage damage where mortal strike will do little damage.

Mace stun spec is best left for rogues, you will likely be disappointed if you try dual wielding maces with an Arms build. Stick with a 2-hand for Arms, if you were considering what I think you were.
Arms is the pinnacle of warrior PVP & you'll likely miss it if you attempt PVP as Fury regardless of your damage output. Fury is kind of look upon as sustained damage, whereas MS/Arms builds focus on burst damage which is king in PVP.

Fury warrior do higher overall dps dmg than Arms? if your target stand still then sure. Which is why it's better in PVE - where mobs just stand in one place?
Im not really sure why people who plays warrior try to play like a rogue - Don't like the leather?? Well you wont get sap, kidney shot, gouge, stealth, etc...
I'm not sure you can call a mace spec dw warrior as "stun locking" - 3 sec with diminishing returns?? And a proc rate of ~5%? That's a joke.

Arms may be the best at PvP, but Fury Warriors are far from the gimps everyone makes them out to be. I've been Fury for 30 levels or so, doing battlegrounds when not questing or filling in as a tank and though I may not have the presence of a big 2-hander, I've taken down my share of vulnerable spellcasters who think being on the back side of their group keeps them safe.
If PvP is your main slice of pie, however (I think it's too chaotic and I get irritated with the lack of cooperation), Arms is definitely the way to go.

Before 2.3 Fury was a really good build in PvP. But with out Death Wish & Improved Intercept it's days of glory are over.

....which why it kind of upsets me that Blizzard swapped them all. It was nice having an Arms build with Sweeping Strikes to help out in PvE or a Fury build with Death Wish to make BGs more survivable. Now I feel more confined by my talents than ever before.
