Can a Ret Paladin heal WotLK Regular Instances?

I have an alt Paladin that is Ret atm for leveling. Once I get back into Northren, I was planning on running some
regular instances
just to cut down on some quest grinding. Question is if I need to spec Holy in order to heal these? Can a Ret spec successfully heal in
regular easy instances
?
My main concern is healing amount and mana. Ret paladins don't have much mana at all. But I was wondering if
Judgements of the Wise
is enough to maintain my small mana pool.
As for Healing amount, I was hoping to have decent heals with
Sheath of Light
. That combined with my high crit chance should let me heal a decent amount I hope.
As anyone successfully healed in the Regular WotLK instances as Ret Spec? If the answer is yes, will my normal DPS gear (High AP and Crit) suffice or do you need a healing set?

You need the mana from a healing set. Anything with high INT and crit rating. Judgements of the Wise is enough for what, 1 big heal, or a couple of small heals. You're not going to be doing any dps'ing if you're healing, meaning you won't get any benefit from SoW or JoW. And Divine Plea will only work in the off periods when you don't need to heal.
It'll be possible with a decent mana pool, but don't get any expectations of being able to be a healing DPS'er.

Of course not, if I was going to Heal that's all I would do during the run. I just wanted to know if I had to respec in order to roll as a healer.
So the answer is to pickup a healing set for healing instances. Will do thanks.

Would it be possible to just pick up dual-spec?
It seems to be the solution to most things these days.

even with a healing set, it will be incredibly difficult to heal instances of your level range

If you really don't want to go for respecs or dual spec i would say go for it, it's your repair bill
Don't expect to get into many groups saying that you're ret with healing gear though :P

Sorry, that's what I assumed, because you wanted to keep your AP/crit gear. A stack of greens, or some spare quest reward items, should be more than sufficient.
I agree with blademeld - dual spec would be the easiest way, unless you're tanking as off-spec. Just get your main to fund your pally the 1000g for dual spec, it ought to be worth it for flexibility.

As long as the tank is specced to tank you should be fine with some holy gear. Make sure you buff yourself with might as it's an extra 200sp.

That would be "is more healing needed or more mana needed?" Buff according to what you need.

Grab some AH greens, get yourself 9-10k mana and leave it at that. Hopefully you will still have enough AP from your ret gear to get the most out of sheath of light. Just remember to use big heals, sheath of light and your crit chance will benifit more for big heals critting for alot and then ticking for alot.

Remember that it's not only one person you have to heal (tank) but five....

Never had a problem with it honestly. Currently, I sit at ~12k mana in my healing gear as ret (specced prot right now though... hmmm), and with BoM on myself I sit at about 800sp unbuffed. I find that with my high crit chance, and FoL spam, I've never had a problem yet healing a dungeon (UK, Nexus , Nexus, and most of DTK). You just have to be smart about it, and not try and reach for Holy Shock when you don't have it.

Ok, I'll either just buy the Dual Spec for the Paladin or go with the suggestions that have been posted.
On a side note, I've been looking for the best possible way to gear up as soon as I ding 80. I generally hate running places over and over for drops, but would rather have a goal for gear through reputations and/or emblem buys. Hopefully this list is somewhat easy to attain, and prepare me for some Naxx runs etc. Here's the list I've come up with:
Head:
Helm of Purified Thoughts
or
Brillant Titansteel Helm
Neck:
Lattice Choker of Light
or
Titanium Spellshock Necklace
Shoulders:
Ornate Saronite Pauldrons
Cloak:
Wispcloak
Chest:
Ornate Saronite Hauberk
Bracer:
Ornate Saronite Bracers
Gloves:
Heroes' Redemption Gloves
Belt:
Magroth's Meditative Cincture
Legs:
Standard Issue Legplates
Feet:
Brilliant Titansteel Treads
Finger:
Signet of the Hopeful Light
Finger:
Titanium Spellshock Ring
Trinket:
Sundial of the Exiled
or
The Egg of Mortal Essence
Trinket:
Sapphire Owl
Weapon:
Titansteel Guardian
or
Titansteel Spellblade
Shield:
Protective Barricade of the Light
Libram:
Libram of Renewal
I think there are 3-4 pieces that are dependant on Argent Crusader faction so I'll raise that one first. My Main is a Miner and can either farm the Saronite for the Ornate pieces or Titansteel components. Can anyone check this list and suggest easy to get upgrades? I looked for a Holy Paladin easy to gear guide on Elite Jerks but couldn't find one.

A ret paladin in holy gear is not a retadin or holydin.. It's a reta
r
din.
If you ever intend to heal anything above VH Normal you'll be the laughing stock of the server
So let me understand this. A Warrior can be Fury and Tank or a Paladin can be Ret and still Tank but a Paladin HAS to be Holy to Heal even the normal instances? As I said in the OP, I'm leveling as Ret. I was hoping to heal in some regular WotLK instances to break up the quest grinding monotony, but it sounds like I NEED to be Holy or don't even try.
I'm sure it's ok to Heal as Ret in the pre-TBC instances, even some of the TBC instances. This practice doesn't work in WotLK you are saying svirve?
