Laihendi actually likes the format used for the pokemon games. He likes how it evolves over the years, but all in all it's still the same. Laihendi agrees though that the new pokemon in general look kind of lame compared to the old ones.

I dunno, there are a few things I like about the newer ones. But my favorite of all time will always be Lugia, followed by Mewtwo, and then I guess Charizard. Beyond that, it doesn't really matter. As far as the game format is concerned, I actually have no problem with the direction that it's taken (or not taken) over the years. G/S/C was actually the point where I think the franchise completely peaked on the awesomeness scale.

I don't like new pokémon at all. All the new weirdo pokémons freak me out. I'll stay with the original ones <3
Pokemon Blue FTW!
Only good one ever.
Ever.

In Laihendi's opinion it started going downhill after G/S/C

Agreed.
Though I think that in the end what happened was the same thing that's happening with WoW right now: they started catering toward the more casual players. Making it easier for people who didn't want to actually do any specific formulas to gather different variables and whatnot.
I remember, for example, when IV's weren't as well-known as they are now. You had to actually use a formula to figure it out. It took trial and error to get the best of the best of the best, sir. With honors.
/sigh

IVs are Individual Values. Similar to genetics in a way, they are the first modifiers when you meet the Pokemon. They add on to your Base Stats and EV point value. So if the IV is like 5, for attack and a Slowpoke has 10 attack base stats (This is just assuming, Slowpokes do not have 10 attack base stats), the total would be 15. I believe breeding yields out better IVs, so yeah.
I never really looked too far into the whole thing, just like I typically don't look that far into WoW. I only knew that such a thing existed, not the fine-tuned sciences behind it.
I just know that not every Slowpoke is created equal. :\

Agreed. Pokémon got me through my deployment in Afghanistan. Further refinement to the handheld releases!

I think they need to look at pokemon and see just how their style is going. I would love to see Pikachu go back to his classic round shape. IMO he looked a lot cuter... the new one is not as... huggable. Yeah, I said it.
It's true.
Tyr people in the army play pokemon? :O

Not entirely sure about the army, but in the Navy they do. Or at least, this one does. Until I modded my PSP, Diamond, Fire Red, and Emerald were my lifelines.

The Navy just keeps sounding better and better.
