NOTE: the movie is extremely disturbing. Think twice before watching it.
Pig culling in Egypt
. These people should be beaten to death with a rusty nail on a stick. I wish I could go and see their beautiful historic heritage, but this movie shows how far they'll go just to practice their religion. Messed up.

Not really. The swine flu was only an excuse, it was done out of religious purposes. Killing pigs will not reduce the risk of being affected by swine flu.

It was not. The pigs were raised in the middle of the poor parts of the city, it was dangerous. The government could have banned raising pigs in the first place, but they didn't. Trust me, our government does NOT care about religion; Alcohol is legal here.

I don't know, but I'm going to say there were definately religious overtones to the situation. The only consumers of swine in that area are the Christian minority. It seems kind of.. well.. stupid to kill the pigs because of swine flu. The human strain is not caught by contact with pigs, except for the origional carrier. After that it is purely human to human. Egypt's government KNEW that. So why kill the pigs?

The government knows nothing, why would they do it out of religion? The government cares more about money then religion.

Well isn't there a lot of money in religion?
No, really no. Exact opposite, religion means no alcohol and no pigs, which would mean less tourism etc. So it would
seem
that religion wastes money. How could there be a lot of money in religion.

Scientology.
Technically not a religion though.

Bloody hell there isn't. Religion gains support from the masses, which means political power, which means money in so many ways I can't begin to list them.
Think, for instance, of the days when the Church was the greatest political power in Europe because of how close it was with the people, and every king would please the Church so they, in turn, could get a good word from the Church to its followers.
Religion got people to keep in line and accept things as they are. More often than not it's in a government's best interest to be in good terms with it.
It's true. Think of all the times religion came up in the last US election. And four years before that there was the "big deal" about Kerry being a Catholic.

If that was the case, the government would have declared that it was doing it for religion, or at least hinted, they did neither. Again, the government does not care about religion, the government is powerful enough to not need that.

Laihendi doesn't know where you live, so he can't comment on the role of religion in government in your country, but in the US, religion is extremely influential in government, despite it being a "secular" state.

There's no such thing as powerful enough.
Come on, they are not looking for world domination, they just want money, they have enough power to make sure they stay where they are and to keep the people in check.

That's absolutely terrible.
