BUFF BM HUNTERS!
BUFF EXOTIC PETS!
BUFF PET DAMAGE!
See, that's exactly what we don't need. Buffing Pet damage will only lead to more problems for a raiding BM pet. Each time the pet dies, you''d take an even bigger hit to your dps than current, then factor in the Rez time, which costs a decent chunk of mana, causing you to go into AotV sooner, etc...
Until they make pets unkillable in a raid environment, simply buffing pet damage isn't a very viable solution. Exotic pets already deal 10% more damage than a normal pet, which outshines even the almighty, raiding wolf.
The best way to get BM back up to par, at least in my opinion, would be making pets nearly invulnerable in a raid. They have the avoidance changes which will hopefully help a great deal. Then, IMO, BM needs it's own signature shot. I don't know what kind or anything like that, but something to give them a more dynamic rotation other than SrS, Arcane, Multi, and Steady.
Just my opinion.

The whole point is that for all of BC BM was king in raids, MM was our PvP spec & each raid brought one SV hunter to the raid for the EW buff. Now that MM & SV are the prime specs I think it's better. Instead of one spec you have two to choose from instead of every single hunter being BM.

I understand your point, however, I have never seen nor herd of a serious hunter who goes into a raid as a BM hunter. There are some fights where I do use BM,
but the vast majority of them my survival spec tops out over 2x as much dps.
I feel that our position right now is balanced; our shots, pets, and talents represent clearly where we should be.
Did you also remove all your gear when changing spec? Otherwise i would call this a lie. Or maybe you just totally suck at playing as a BM.
BM hunters are a little lower on dps, but not nearly by that much. 3-400 dps tops are what i heard.
(The highlighted text could be true ofcorse, if you only pull about 800dps as SV, but then you have other issues).

That last post is nice, I always wanted to do BM in raids and dungeons, but whenever I do, I do about 500-700 less dps, and when you are only doing about 3.3k (right now, in some heroic ToC and normal) thats a huge loss. I use the wolf for all dungeon fights, so maybe that is why my dps is so low? Either way, I would love to see BM a more viable spec. Would bring much more to the plate for our guild. Also, to the OP - if you are using all those shots when farming 80's you are over doing it, or doing it wrong... no need for SrS - I use Exp Shot, Aimed Shot, and by then the mob is dead. I open up with Exp Shot, and pet goes in as I fire away. I usually get off 2-3 auto shots. Once in a blue moon, I get to hit the mob with my polearm. :) Anyway, like I stated, I would love to see more BM raid viability, and the post above gives me some hope. :)

IMHO, Hunter DPS is based more solely on skill then on gear. It's about 20% Spec(Optimal talents for the spec), 20% Gear Level, and 60% Rotation and skill using the rotation. I've out DPSed plenty of other Hunters who over gear me by generally about 300-600 Attack Power, simply because they don't follow shot priority, or their spec isn't refined.
I would say it's safe to assume that even a BM Hunter will be able to pull reasonable DPS in a raiding situation. But I wouldn't take numbers from three separate Hunters for comparison because there is no telling whether they are Hunters or Huntards simply from saying they are one spec or another. The only real verifiable data would have to be from someone who is comfortable playing their spec and understands what they are doing.
Data that has already been collected has proven that BM Hunters are not able to pull as much DPS as Survival or Marks, they just haven't been able to since their last big Nerf. My opinion is simply that, if it's what you want to do go for it, but don't QQ when you get the LoLz.

BM hunter simply should not be bagged about sucking in dps. Ppl must remeber, that most of their dmg stem from themselves AND their pets. Dmg from their pets is the key to a BM hunter's dps as long u have a good pet.
