Depends on what you're tanking.

You lose 200 BV and gain ...? You should always weigh all stat gains against stat losses.

1.9% avoidance >>> 200 BV
Post by
Bloodkittie
the gain of the avoidance is better then the BV.
in advarge on a avoidance set u will have around 1500BV.
while in BV set u can reach up 4000BV.
so if this changes are for ur avoindace set they r good.
and the old items keep them for the BV set.

If your BV set has 4k BV, you're bad.

I'm so damn tired of people saying this kind of stuff without any further explanation or how to be 'not bad'.
Seriously, if you're just going to be a jerk, go away please.

BV caps around 3100.
ShoR caps at around 3280 or so, being 2760 from BV and 520 from bonus damage - is that what you're thinking of, Quest?
I didn't think there was a BV cap on actual blocking, per se.

Yes, my bad, I neglected to put in ShoR. (its 3161 BV)

In that case, 4k BV is alright, for the purposes of creating a max-mitigation set. Even if you're wasting the value somewhat because it can't all be used towards ShoR.

I lol'd IRL. Good point.
On to the topic, there is no BV cap on blocks, as others have pointed out.
Shield of Righteousness
: Now deals 100% of shield block value as damage instead of 130%. In addition, the benefit from additional block value this ability gains is now subject to diminishing returns. Diminishing returns occur once block value exceeds 30 times the player's level and caps the maximum damage benefit from shield block value at 34.5 times the player's level.
This means it will start gaining diminishing returns at 30x80 = 2.400 BV and cap at 2.760 BV. Now with verified information :D

this is right for the
Shield of Righteousness
spell it will get the DR from the BV and will max out
BUT
the normal BV meaning the dmg stop by ur shield when u block is not getting DR or max out there for it can reach above that number (2760).
so u can have let say 3500BV and ur block will stop that amount of dmg but ur Shield of Righteousness won't hit harder then 2760+520=3280 unless it will crit.
