That's weird...
I have about 2 GB RAM and an ATI Radeon HD2400 Pro, with almost 3 GHz, and
still
need to play on lowest settings. Medium is fine for dull and unpopulated zones, but even at lowest I need to be careful not to log out in Dalaran or the Argent Tournament (on the PTR), because I simply cannot come back. Not to mention that Ulduar25 AoE pulls make me bleed. A lot.
But to make things even worse, the nVidia G-Force I bought before (6600
I think
) dropped my FPS to less than 2. Everywhere. Populated or not.

This is all not about technology and user, believe me ;)
Oh, I know that it is all about the money - Blizzard prob "optimizes" its software for systems provided by the highest bidder ;-)
And I haven't seen a product says "runs best on NVIDIA" and 1 year later "Best used on ATI systems"... Software is usually oriented towards a certain hard drive and stays that way.

bahahaha.... I play WoW on my Macbook.
I don't miss having to pull my PC apart and replace faulty GFX cards, and trying to match/rematch/rollback drivers.
