as a warrior, it's a good proffesion, because you can actually wear most of the things you make, i.e. Phantom Blade etc. problem is, that most of the blacksmithing stuff have a level requirement far above the usual level requirement for such a quality item. For example, the Shadow Crescent Axe requires level 35, but most AH Axes are as good, while they require level 31/32.
Also, the items that ARE really good with blacksmithing, are mostly BoP, except for the stuff that you will be able to make at level 360+. So don't expect to gain money from blacksmithing, until the higher levels.
Im a blacksmith myself, and i actually buy the 1000g + recipes, just to earn money from them, like Helm of the Stalwart Defender. You earn 200g on those things, and the only thing you lose from crafting one is a Primal Nether, which i get just about every day.
Blacksmithing is a great selfish class in my opinion, especially at lower levels: great for the user, crap for the rest of the community.

I would say Blacksmithing is very worth it for a Warrior. Just have to work at keeping it a bit ahead of your character's level to wear the items at the lowest level.

Good question, i did a lot of browsing too when i had to make that choice.
First of all, im a weaponsmith, and that's mostly because i just loved the exclusiveness of the weapons that you can make. Also i think Armorsmithing isnt that good for a warrior, the most epic quality items you can make or made for either paladins or mail-wearing classes.
I am a swordsmith, and that's because it has both a tanking weapon, (Fireguard) and a huge DPS weapon which does more damage than anything else you can get when you first ding 70. I know, 10 primal mights, but then you do have something that's unique. :) Fireguard is the best tanking weapon for beginners in my opinion, it does about 10 more DPS than any other weapon that drops in the normal instances, plus it has 3 things warriors really need when tanking: Hit Rating, Agility, and ofcourse Stamina. Another great thing is that you can upgrade it with the nethers you find in heroic (and sometimes even Normal mode) instances. So it grows along with you :).
Such a long story ...

Obligitory: baby work it, put your name down flip it and reverse it.
I did blacksmithing on my rogue for the drakefist and it does eat up gold like no tomorrow, but you can make some decent money off it as you get higher up.

Personally I would say weaponsmithing. Since as a Warrior your weapon is the biggest boost to your damage. Yeah the armor will help, but no single piece of gear will up your damage as much as upgrading your weapon.
As far as for which weapon spec. Resilience has kind of killed Axe spec. Even nerfed Mace spec is most likely going to be the best for PvP though Sword might be a strong contender now. Though Arena Season 3 stuff might beat out even the Stormherald in damage. Thats just looking at it from PvP however. PvE wise Mace isn't so hot, and Axe is very good.
