If you truely want to know, you would do the research yourself or at least use the search function to get this answer:
...Highly dependant on group setup so there's no point to the question..!
...I dont think there is a BEST DPS class...
It obviously depends on the fight...

Best dps right now seems to be a well geared rogue, that is if you count all the fights.
As for casters, I would rank it as:
Warlock, Mage, Elemental shaman, Moonkin, Shadow priest.
This list only applies when the classes are in their 'optimum' raid settings, and are geared/used properly.
A warlock has the highest dps ceiling, but it also has to manage a pet, and a very complex rotation involving DoTs and maximizing uptime on buffs (backdraft, etc.). Demonology is easier, but also produces lower numbers then destro or affliction.
A mage is capable of almost as much dps as a warlock, but is significantly easier to use, with simplistic rotations that usually require no more then three or four keys.
An Elemental shaman is arguably the easiest class to use in WoW, not counting buffs and on-use effects, it only uses three keys in a single target dps rotation.
Moonkins are relatively simple casters as well, though they rely on a proc rotation, which requires some awareness.
Shadow priests are probably the second hardest class to use on this list, warlocks being the first. Although shadow priests clearly do less dps then other casters, they also provide a myriad of raid benefits that justifies their spot.
All these classes are also ranked in terms of how they provide support and raid buffs, with shadowpriest applying the most, and warlock generally (unless it is demonic pact or replenishment) applying the least benefit to other players. Shamans could arguably provide the most buffs, but they are more a 'jack of all trades' in terms of their support skills, most classes have better versions of what they can supply.

You forgot Hunters =/
We may do physical damage instead of magical damage, but we're still casters.

No, Hunters are ranged physical dps. By caster I assume that their staple spells are 'casted' as in they use a castbar exclusively. Steady shot still does not qualify a hunter as a caster.

I think you are overcomplicating a lock's dps cycles. No lock ever has to manage complex dots and procs like backdraft. Any good Destro lock keeps 1, maybe 2 dots up.
I don't want to hijack the thread but I do need to comment that this is not true. Warlocks can put out 80-90% of their dps ceiling by simply chucking up dots and spamming (as you seem to be saying), but to squeeze the maximum out its a LOT more complicated.
You need to balance a minimum of two dots (almost always three or more) as well as your direct damage spells. For a desto lock there is typically only three "core" direct damage spells to use, but two are on cooldowns, and they need to be juggled to get the most out of it.

That's fair. I think of casters as people who depend on mana for the majority of their dps from range. So I think we had similar ideas, just stated differently.

Casters have to worry about the spell hit cap only. Physical dps need to worry about the regular hit cap. Is that enough difference?

Best mastery specced Hunter is the best PVE class what so ever.
3.1 called, they want their bull!@#$ back.
On a more serious note, BM atm is the worst DPS spec out of al 3.
