What's so difficult about driving correctly, or even sensibly?
STOP means to stop moving. It doesn't mean to reduce your speed and move slowly. If Malgayne tells you to stop making stupid threads, he doesn't mean for you to decrease the rate at which you post them.
When I come up to a stop sign, I stop. Most times there is someone behind me who must stop. Here is where I present the lost art of driving: following distance. I follow people up to stop signs at a distance that does not make it necessary for me to stop at that sign more than once. By the time I get to the sign, the previous stopper is already gone. Hence, I don't have to stop behind someone, tap the accelerator to get to the stop sign, and then stop and go again.
Turn signals: Damn, these are really helpful to people who are following you. I can understand the "oh, wait I have to turn there!" people; heck, I have to do that sometimes. But the never-ending nonexistence of turn signals is getting old.
TWD: Texting while driving. Seriously, are you #$%^ing stupid?
So anyway, share some driving tips with anyone else who decides this thread is worth reading.

I present the lost art of driving: following distance.
I wouldn't say it's lost quite yet, as this teaching was passed down to me by my mother, and her mother before her, and...

The worst thing is sitting in the fast lane of a 3 laned highway, going 20 mph below the speed limit.
I get 'safety first', but that's just stupid. Get out of the way.

If the light turns yellow and you're not at the stoplight yet, that doesn't mean you should speed up to ridiculous speeds in order to get through before it turns red.
If you go up an exit and realize you're going the wrong direction to where you want to go, don't turn around and drive down the hill to get back on the highway. Just don't.
Don't leave your turn signal on for 10 minutes straight.
Don't ignore the ambulance. You need to get out of the way immediately; showing up late to wherever you want to go is a
lot
less important than somebody's life.
Don't nearly crash into somebody else because you wanted to avoid hitting a bird.
If you get in an accident, put the parking brake on before you get out of the car, to avoid your car rolling down the street... with your baby in it....
I've actually seen all of these. Terrible.

I can't drive yet.
Red means stop!
Green means go!
Yellow means slow down or go faster depending on whether the cars around you have a lightshow going on on their roof!
Do I win?

I'm sorry for the necro, but I just got back from Wal-Mart and nearly got hit by 2, count them
> 2 <
, drivers cutting across the parking spaces. And then on the way home I got behind Matilda, who is this 95 year-old lady who drives an Edsel at 5mph wherever she goes (it might be the car's top speed; I'm unsure as of yet). I about had two heart attacks and then almost fell asleep at the wheel...
At what point do we start requiring people to retake their driver's exam? Age 40? 50? 18? When they've shrunk to 4' 2"?

SO many times this.
Well, people who go under the speed limit in general. (Exceptions of bad weather, etc.)
This especially applies to elderly drivers. You're dying, you need to go faster!

If your not in a fast car in the fast lane of the motorway the get back to the loser lane slow coach! all these businessy looking people in their M3s want to drive at 90 miles an hour without your rover metro getting in the way :)
Also, speed cameras are for target practise

I'm not saying you have to get out of the way so I can drive like I'm on fire... I'm just saying, don't sit in the fast lane of a 70 mph zone going 50 mph in your vehicle, expecially when the traffic is moving 75 mph. It means that everyone is moving to their right to go around you.
Occassionally you will run across a 3 car, shoulder to shoulder, road block of people all driving exactly 20 mph below the speed limit, on the freeway. They refuse to drive one after the other in the slow lane, instead opting to each take a lane, refusing to let anyone by them. I've seen traffic backed up for miles.... and still the 3 drivers at the front are so oblivious to the world around them, that they have the same idiotic glazed over look on their faces as they creep down the road.
