It's not you, it's the tanks.
If you find yourself with a undergeared tank, or one that is bad with threat, just attack later, slow your rotation until they have enough aggro
As long as you're not charging in as the mob is running to the tank and instantly bladestorming, or anything similar, you're doing the right thing as dps.

Warrior tank here. When I run with my arms warrior buddy he tends to pull the non skull targeted mobs off pretty easily of which he is real good with a shield/sword/ macro and shield wall if necessary if he thinks he is about to die which gives me a few seconds to get the mob off. I have also used intervene on him before when he pulls skull off. Being in a high stam set does gimp our threat production on progression fights. The next best thing to do is for the warrior to drop vigilance on you which pretty much solved the problem on bladestorms for me when I don't put vigi on a lock.
The key here isn't pulling threat per say because tanks will be different in their tps, but what can you do to stay alive when you do? one hander and shield w/ shield wall is your best bet,

There's a bunch of malarkey in this thread. Either your tanks suck or you are instantly doing burst damage on untanked mobs.
Warriors are the least of my problems when it comes to threat.

Actually getting aggro is a normal problem for me to when I dps (im arms aswell)
I run with equally or slightly better geared tanks of all sorts, druid, dk, warriors and pallys (not pugs).
I wouldent say I steal aggro at once (unless everythig procs and I stupidly nuke at full force), but in the long run I always have to step back a moment becus of aggro.
I normaly pull 4.5k+ dps on a raid.
Anyway, I learned how to deal with it, if you closing in on aggro, do something else like use your shouts this will let the tanks get ahead on threat.
If you insist on getting yourself killed over and over again, thats your problem not the tanks.

If your tanks are unable to keep ahead of that threat, they suck. It really is that simple. Even in bad gear, 5k TPS is absolutely manageable. That will allow DPSers to do at least 6-7k DPS before they take aggro (because DPSers get less than 1 threat per 1 damage, and because it takes 10%/30% more threat than the current target to grab aggro).

4,5k dps dosnt mean you can pull off 5 consecutive crits of 7-11k damage in like 7 seconds, its those bursts that make you take aggro. arms is extreamly bursty.
im just saying what happens to me, the tanks i run with are hardmode tanks, so i dont really think they are crappy.

If they are hardmode tanks they'll be sustaining 9-10k TPS or more. Give them a 3-5 second head start and 5 consecutive 11k crits simply will not be enough to grab aggro.

With your gear being average at best, you shouldn't be pulling off any skilled tanks. Call out for Salvations, or get vigilance or find new tanks.

I have found that I have a much higher chance of pulling agro with my Arms DPS, mostly when I use Bladestorm. Im normally one of the tanks of my Ulduar group. Just today I ran H HoL with the other tank (pallie). I still had a nice chance of pulling agro when I popped Bladestorm. I even got to the point of telling them all "Im gonna steal agro" when I went to Bladestorm :P Maybe its because I macro it with Sweeping Strikes, but it does seem to put out alot of threat suddenly.
(I can find it hard to pull threat from this tank when using Prot spec without Taunt/HeroicThrow combo. And yet, one Bladestorm and Arms has it...)

Clearly the nice tanks that posted here havent raided with a well geared arms warrior, maybe fury warriors becus they "do more dps". Yes they might, but they also generate less threat then arms.
I might have phrased it a little wrong, but I never meant to say that i pull aggro all the time during the fight, there are some spikes when im close and very few at most only a couple during a boss fight when i actually have to stop doing any kind of damage because of aggro.
Trash is another thing, its easier to grab aggro there when tanks have to focus on aoe threat, but i really make sure to target the same mob, but since the tank have to use aoe threat wich is less effective on that single mob I am targeting I can steal aggro.
I always wait 3-5 seconds after the tank has engaged, but after a charge its a clear risk of critting straight away with the juggernut effect, it wont make me steal aggro but it sure as hell makes me climb the threat list.
I do well more then 3.6k tps, dont know the exact numbers, i wont be raiding for a while due exams.
4.5k dps is from the total damage single target on trash, so no blade storm or sweaping strikes, bossfight are more, cant post any exact numbers becus I normaly dont look so much at recount and the only recorded fight i have left is from yesterdays OS 10 where it was 4.4k with kings and a blood lust.
I really dont care about meaningless rants like "your tanks sucks" or "no way you can pull off aggro" becus I know it aint true, I just shared with the OP what happens to me so he will know what happens. And clearly it isnt such a unusual problem.
