Armor doesn't matter at all unless your just leveling to let you eat less. Once 70 there are a lot of dps warriors that take leather for instance since it is more likely to have +hit where most plate doesn't give you it and socketing +hit is a waste of a socket IMO.

If you want to focus on pure raw damage in a PvE scenario, you'd be best focusing on such pieces as Ragesteel which are Crit / Str heavy but lacking a good deal of Stamina. In addition, you'd be best orientating your gear / socket choices around Crit / Str / Hit. In regards to hit, you may need a little, or a lot, pending whether you are Two-Handing or Dual-Wielding.
In a PvP Scenario, you'll want to focus on having Resilience of course, but don't socket these into your armor -- it's a waste of a socket in my personal opinion. If you're DW PvP'ing, you may need to supplement in some +hit, but for most Warriors out there (2H MS) you'll probably be stacking in crit / str gems. When you get full PvP gear, you should have a moderately good amount of Resilience (250+ base) as well as around 11-13kish HP (Pending gear choices). I myself have around 13kish unbuffed HP (And I usually use Commanding in Arenas, thus jumping it up 1k or more) and this usually means I have enough HP to take beatings from all melee, though for all Warriors, casters attacking en masse will utterly decimate you even with the beloved Spell Reflect ability being used religiously.
To summarize:
PvE (2H) - Crit / Str / Hit*
PvP (2H) - Crit / Str / Sta*
PvE (DW) - Crit / Str / Hit
PvP (DW) - Crit / Str / Hit / Sta
*Use only if you need to buff this particular stat if it's low, otherwise focus on the others listed.
