Yeah, people who try to say, "Everyone should do what everyone else does because if the encounter requires you to take it up the butt, we should all be getting rammed," are making a really ridiculous argument. For example (and I know this boss is a joke, but the point stands), for Emalon, I don't switch targets to the growing add. There's a slew of ranged and tons of people who are better at target switching who can do it. If I did it, I'd walk over there, break my combo points on the boss, hit two mangles or a shred or two and then it would be dead, I'd lose those combo points unless I left a free GCD for SR refresh (losing even more DPS time) and then have to switch back to the boss and attempt to recover what's left of my bleed rotation.
I'm making a choice based on my understanding of my class and the mechanics of the fight and how the rest of the raid's DPS work with those mechanics.
Similarly, with raid healing going to 30 to as much as 70% overhealing, situationally and modified by class, allowing the rest of the raid standing in front of Auriaya to take even 1000 more damage than they were before by letting ALL of your melee attack from behind is completely acceptable in my mind. What else do healers do on fights with AOE damage but spam heals on everyone constantly anyway?

really? none of you see any value whatsoever by taking two steps forward for the single second you should be in front of the boss? can anyone estimate how much dps you lose as a result of this?

Is the dps you lose really worth the 1/10th of a wild growth tick?

I do 5-10% more dps than the entire raid, which more than qualifies me not having to more for a small and pitiful amount of aoe damage.
Im bad at this game.
fixed.
ROFL! Thanks Foley. No point in replying to that now.
Another thing I don't do on that fight. Switch to the guardian or aoe the adds. I'm not saying this should be common practice, but my single target dps is higher than the "AoE" class's AoE damage, so I have no problem letting them boost their overall dps and feeling better about themselves. That and, with the top dps on the boss the whole time, not losing any momentum at all(which feral druids are vulnerable to), the boss goes down quicker.

in fact, it could be considered a *hindrance* to the group for you to sacrifice damage output in favor of travel time just so you could offer help where it wasn't needed
