I believe the problem with them eating AoE heals was that they spawned at 50% health and went up to full in a split second for some reason, and 'targeted aoe's' like Wild Growth would hit them at just the wrong moment. I don't know if that got fixed or if it was never a problem and I just dreamed it was or something, though.

Bloodworms -can- wander off and aggro things by themselves. It is very rare to see, but it's happened to me 3 times when grouped with other DKs who had them specced. All 3 occasions it happened, it led to a wipe. They can also eat up aoe healing intended for raid members. Again, that's a rare thing since they die when sneezed on, but there are some boss aoes that won't outright kill them off, and thus leaving them as valid targets for raid healing. It's also possible that they end up in front of bosses and get parried, thus increasing damage taken by the tank.
Blood worms will only go after other enemies if one of your abilities hit the enemy or the enemy hits you first. Think of it this way, the bloodworms are your"pets" like a hunters or the ghouls but always stuck on defensive mode. MEANING that until you initiate aggro with a mob, or until the mob initiates aggro with you they stay with you.
Those "accidental" pulls could be that a pat is cutting it in DC range and sudden doom happens to proc at the same time you land the killing blow with a HS on a different mob. Which would cause the DC to automaticly go hit the nearest target. Well if its the pat thats closest, guess what it was ur DC and not your bloodworms. Bloodworms will NEVER pull with out you or the mob initiating a fight. Next time pay attention to what you and ur procs are doing.
As far as OP comment go with bloodworms it works wonders while lvling and since thats that you are doing and not end game raiding it is well worth it
Wrong sir we were doing 1st boss on AZN Heroic and Right after we finished with the 2nd pack and right before the 3rd came my bloodworms went and agrroed the boss I even saw it in the combat log
The H AZN bug affected all pets, even if they were on passive, so that is not from the bloodworm talent mechanic, it was a bug. im pretty sure it has been fixed

When we were first starting Freya on twenty five man some months back, we used to stop damage on the Snaplasher add in order for its skin to reset. Somehow everytime we called for a stop, something hit the lasher and kept the stack of buffs on it. After three or four wipes (and countless speculation as to who the colossal idiot was) we realized it was the bloodworms from a blood specced knight. It wasn't really his fault, but he immediately specced out of bloodworms.

No you dont run lvl 80 instances with a lvl 76 because the lvl 80 mobs/bosses are going to naturally hit harder and the lvl 76 tank will hardly hit the bosses/mobs. Go read the notes for WotLK release and you will see that Parry-gib and crushing blows DO NOT EXSIST AT ALL.
Read the loading screen tips and you will see that crushing blows exist when mobs are four levels above you.
I think you were confused about what those release notes said.
Bosses
are no longer capable of crushing blows, because they are now considered to be level 83 mobs. Crushing blows have certainly NOT been removed from the game though.
