Please define the differences for a 29 mage noob.
I'm currently full arcane.

I'm aware of the current hatred of frost mages so thinking of switching but am not completely sure why. Is any certain full spec good for specific things? Thanks for answering any q's.

In my experience, Frost is wonderful to level up with. Once you get those mobs frozen, and the frost-bolts start chain-critting, the targets drop faster than with Fire-spec.
*grin*
But I did read about a cool raid-build, being Arcane/Fire, and chain-casting Arcane Missiles/Fireball. Considering the 5 second channel of Arcane Missiles, and the 3 second cast of Fireball, you'd end up with 3 seconds in the 5-second-rule. (since countdown begins at -end- of fireball, but in the start of AM).
Anyway. Any spec is decent, but Frost for ultimate control. Especially at 50 with Water-elemental.

A couple of things to note ... Arcane Fortitude ... not really a good talent, even if you're speccing arcane. They're are better talents to be had elsewhere.
And If I were you, I'd spec into Improved Arcane Missiles if you want to grind with Arcane. It really helps if your Missiles aren't interrupted by damage.
I'm levelling with Arcane, and it's mostly fine. I do have to drink a lot, but it makes up for the fact that my Arcane Missiles are doing a huge load of damage compared to Fire spells at this level.
