Disclaimer: No, I haven't downed Algalon and haven't even ever attempted him to this date.
I would use Combat. AR + BF + Heroism/Bloodlust + Potion of Speed =
Reply-Code Alpha
. It's not that I don't have decent weapons for Mutilate (I have Perilous Bite as MH for that matter), but I just don't see myself dealing more damage with 51/13/7. Maybe it's because I haven't played Mutilate since 3.0.8.

Can you not move on the other side of Algalon's hitbox to avoid that?
Also, have you confirmed that Blade Flurry hits the stars? Because, for example, the clouds in Vezax encounter aren't hit by Blade Flurry when I'm on Vezax, even when their hitbox is right where I am.

Subtlety is the best Algalon spec. Highest single target DPS (which is exactly what this fight is) and also you get reduced AoE damage for blackholes/crashes.

BF does hit stars but when I do Algalon as combat it has never really been an issue. If I see my BF hitting multiple targets I will yell out on vent and the tank will adjust the boss away from the stars.

I didn't realize this was 10 man. You want to go Combat if that's the case then.

SheeoCo, the fact that we don't know how skilled your guildies are and the fact that we can't really measure their skill accurately is a great factor affecting the precision of your statements. I'll give you an example:
Rogue 1 has Calamity's Grasp and Combatant's Bootblade
Rogue 2 has Golden Saronite Dragon and Combatant's Bootblade.
Both are CQC and have same enchants and same gear apart from mainhand.
If rogue 1 beats Rogue 2 in a long fight, say XT-002 25man Hardmode, during one fight, it doesn't prove that CG > GSD
If rogues all over the world compare their WWS parses and on average, and GSD appears ahead of CG, then that might be considered "proof" as such, since there is evidence backed up by statistics.

And there is No way you can out-dps me, or any other semi-competent rogue in Ulduar gear/weapons with Naxxramas weapons.
I beg to differ.
The example that I "made up" was in fact adapted from my personal experience. Apart from a few off-set pieces such as belt or a necklace, the rest is accurate, and "example" did infact take place during my gameplay in 3.1.

No, no, not that. I mean the "it's impossible" statement. People's skills vary a LOT, that's what I was implying.

Good topic to post in as (for the first time last night) I was assigned to Algalon wiping duty.
For a first time, I went combat. My gear isn't amazing (you can see it in my profile > Armory) as combat, but my mutilate weapons are better. Been as I have duel spec both, I tried both, and found combat far better than mutilate due to the importance of burn phases.
Like someone said above, at the very start of the fight there are no adds, so use AR, wait for Ar to run low, hit BF/Racial(Berserking)/Speed pot, get your Cps for the next rotation and KS. By time 20% comes into play, you can do this all over again as algalon himself rotates the black holes without having to kill adds to spawn them.
Hope this helps.
PS: Though mutilate has it's advantages, due to Cosmic Smashs/Big Bangs, using your CDs between the start and P2 can be a waste as the smashes cannot be fully predicted and you may need to work your way back to the boss. But that also applies for Mutilates rotation, as it depends on continuous focus to be effective more than combat.
