Welcome to the internet? Ads are a part of the web. It's the only way for a site to generate revenue to sustain itself. If you don't like it, you're free to not use the site.
I can't imagine how you people deal with the rest of the web if Wowhead's ads bother you.

Well, the word placed in one of the early posts in thread... WoW will not loose playerbase... in long run, may be, but instantly it's not true.
I clearly see it as market twists since the opening of Aion. Prices on certain items literally breaking the floor down though the ground as demand is lost and offer is quite high. On a most valuable, high-priced items with a certain demand at all times.

Be fair, these are legitimate concerns. :)
Legitimate, I suppose. I see nothing wrong with offering ads for other MMOs. Why is that a sellout? There's nothing wrong with playing multiple MMOs at a time and many people do. If someone actually looks at the ad and decides to switch away from WoW, then that only means they'd likely switch after seeing an ad somewhere else anyhow. So what? People can like different MMOs and it's not Wowhead's fault that they do. Sometimes people want a break from a specific game (how many 80s are you going to make and run raids with before you want something new for a while?). I think advertising other MMOs is acceptable and smart. I'd much rather see MMO ads than ads for get rich quick schemes or whatever that you always see everywhere. You don't
have
to click the ads. If you are a faithful WoW player, you can ignore them just like ignoring any other kind of ad. It doesn't hurt you a bit... and if you really don't want the ads, you can use ad blocking software... though that can reduce ad income for the site, which isn't really that good either.
And, for the record, Aion is a very well-made game. It's one of the better MMOs that have come out. Nothing wrong with liking it whether you play it or not.
