DPS's threat is DPS's responsibility.
Providing enough threat so DPS can drop the boss before the healers go OOM is the Tanks responsibility.
Your tank may have needed to react to something and in doing so messed up his rotation, There may have been wipe preventing reasons why he had it do it. this is why you need to keep a eye on your threat.
Now if your tank is under geared or just fails at being a tank then you need to find a nother one. But, your threat is still your threat bad tank or not.
At any rate, look at what most people say when we are talking about aggro. It is always "if you pull aggro" aka "
you
pull aggro". We do not say "the tank lost aggro". Why? Because, you control your DPS thus if you pull aggro.
Now it is the tanks job to put out enough threat to drop the boss in time. Yet, the tank only fails at this when there is a wipe.
Did you wipe do to the tank dragging out the fight making the healers go OOM? If not, cut back on your DPS and the boss will still go down.

All DSP has a way to manage their threat. I is to stop DPSing!
Then let the tank get a lead in threat and keep DPSing

Ok. you stop dpsing when you get close to pulling aggro. Then let the tank get a lead in threat. then keep DPSing
Lock have the most trouble with doing this do to there dots. I know other classes have dots but not like the lock. All other classes can keep a eye on their threat and can cut back.
Now if you are pulling aggro all the time. Your tank is having trouble. Help him by not creating more trouble. As long as the boss is droped before the healers go OOM. The tank put out enough threat to do his job.
/endscript redundant mode
Yes, more threat would be nice.

I play a Mage and a DK. Mage dose not pull aggro unless its a very bad tank, or a very bad healer let the tank die.
The Dk is my tank alt. People do not pull threat unless they do not focus my target, even with AoE abilities they have to be single targeting the wrong mobs. Even then my HB and BB with diseases rarely allows for them to pull.
A good tank knows how to spread the threat, knows the fights, and knows how to survive while spreading the threat.
A good dps knows to focus the tanks target, AoE only after you see him use his AoE ability, and gives the tank 5 seconds to pick up enough threat, and knows when to pop aggro reduction abilities.
And yes I misspelled stuff shoot me I'm too tired to bother making them correct.

this!
Yet, it still falls on the dps to not pull aggro
Tanks are normally leading. /kick is in their drop down menu. Just a reminder. lol

my thoughts on this are
if the tanks knows what hes doing this should never be an issue unless you're pulling over 3k dps in heriocs
if you're pulling that much theres not realy enough time fore the tank generate agro before the stuff dies or you get a lucky string of crits and promptly die.
okay so what can dps do to help the tank, if you see the tank taunt a mob that is coming over to you change targets. if you keep atticking that target the tank is down a taunt and your going to die, if your goinjg to AOE let the tank lay down thier aoe before you attack. if you have a mob on you run twoards tank not away from the guy attacking you, you run away from tank there is no chance for tank to pick up threat.

its DPS's responsibility to watch the threat meter to make sure they don't pull aggro off tank.
its the Tanks responsibility to make sure they are generating enough threat to keep mobs off the healers.
its the healers responsibility to heal the tank, and spot heal aoe damage to party. not to heal dpsers who pull aggro off the tank.
If your a dpser, and you pull aggro off tank, its your fault. If you have issues with the tanks threat generation that is something you talk to him about when your not in combat.

It is absolutely possible for a DPS to pull of a good tank if they dps too soon, or don't watch their threat or use high threat attacks. All of which I have seen as a tank, and done accidentally as a dps. Typically within two or three pulls you can tell what type of tank you are dealing some you can start out balls out, others you have to white damage before opening up. Typically if my threat builds too fast I wait before dropping a HB or IT and just let white damage, or I just stand around before attacking.
As a tank it constantly bugs me when a dps doesn't wait for me to get the first hit, /kick is pretty easy to do. My job is to tank the group I am fighting not watching everyone's threat. I have enough to do without watching omen to see how close you are to me. I have to track the other guys i am tanking, watching to make sure my healer didn't get someone chasing him I didn't see, and positioning to make sure that dps can get to the guy without pulling everyone else. Plus dealing with melee who refuse to get behind a guy because they feel it takes longer to get there lol.
Tanks job is to grab and hold aggro, but the can' t do it if dps isn't paying attention.

Its allways the Dpses fault if they pull aggro. Unless they are attacking the same target as the tank and still pull aggro then its a tank that cant tank or an undrgeared tank.
