I have another suspicion on the problem and am in the process of producing a fix. Also included in this release will be (hopefully) the ability to link spells and quests.

Hello, and many thanks for this great addon.
Now for my "problem"
I use the phpbb3 portal and the news section that it provides.
For some reason it will not process the i post in the news forum.
Ofcourse its working in the forum. But the news page refuses to activate.
Any ideas? i even tried to edit the portal_body.html but no success.
Any help would be welcome
It doesn't parse item links because it works independently of phpBB. It is partially integrated, but it grabs and parses the posts on its own. Therefore, the code we added to phpBB's scripts are not included in the portal.
I have shown in a previous post located in this thread how to make the portal parse items properly. It is located on the 3rd page, 10 posts down.

I am seeing the same behavior. Running phpBB 3 with MySQL 4.1.11. With everything enabled, my forum shows that there are topics/content there, but when you click to view any topic heading it says there is no content. If I remove the modification to the functions_content page, all my stuff shows up again, just without the tooltip functionality.
Anything I can do or contribute to help, I will gladly do. My cache is running in it's own database as well.

I have the same problems, some topics just do show up...
my test forum at
http://www.awryin.com/club/forum/index.php
go into RAIDS -> Voice chat topic dont work.
If i change for regular funtions_content, everything goes fine...
I just tried to install this addon too, which looks great by the way. I get the same effects of modifying the functions_content.php file. Apparently, its very scared of change. Crackpot, I know you were working on a fix, any word on it coming out?
Thanks a trillion for all the hard work!!
Edit: Apparently, I didn't need to change the functions_content file. The tooltips work!! Now, I dunno if all the syntax works, but I'll try it out too. They look great too. Thanks for the addon!
Edit2: Found out what doesn't work. Any of the syntax does not work. What does work without changing the functions_content file is links to the items using the {url=itemurl}NameofItem{/url} (Replace the { } with )
Going to assume that the changes in the functions_content modifications allow the change of the BBcode syntax to recognize it and turn it into a link and tooltip.
Yes that would work, however, that would mean for every item to be linked you must goto Wowhead's website and find the URL for the specific item that you're intending to link. If you wish to do it that way, please do, but I'm lazy so I want an easy way out. Hence why I wrote this script.
I do apologize for the lack of responses/progress for this script, but I have been writing a script which allows for keeping track of where loot goes and displays it as a block on phpBB3 Portal. I will release a fixed version (well, hopefully its fixed) sometime this weekend, my goal is Saturday sometime.
Thanks for your patience, guys.

Okay, so, seeing how patient you guys have been I have decided that I will release the fix now. Basically, what was happening is that the variable that I used to connect to MySQL ($sql) was also used by phpBB to generate its query to the database. Therefore, since my variable was the same it was interfering with phpBB trying to get posts, hence why your forums would show up blank. As such, I have changed the variable name to something that no script (hopefully) is currently using ($whp_sql). Sorry for this, it was a careless mistake on my part. Hopefully this will resolve any issues that you guys have been having. If not, please make sure to let me know and I'll roll out another fix. Unfortunately, this script is still technically in BETA phase, so I'm pretty much testing it as much as I possibly can and then releasing it for testing, and then fixing any bugs that are brought to my attention.
As always you can get the most updated version from
http://downloads.exhume-guild.com/?dl=wowhead.zip
. Also included is the script to manage your cache, which has been updated.
That reminds me, if you go looking in "functions.php" you will see that I am starting to write the code necessary to parse or . In some preliminary tests it does the job, but it is extremely slow. If you were parsing numerous entries on the fly w/o them being in the cache, then the page load times would be ridiculous. This may be on my web host's side, I'm not sure, it has been acting slow lately. So if I can figure out an efficient way to do this then it will definitely be in one of the major updates coming.
If you have any questions, comments, or additions to the script then please feel free to post them.
Oh, one final note. I wrote a PHP script to keep track of how many times this script has been downloaded and as of right now it is sitting at 291. So a huge thanks to everyone for trying this out, and giving such positive feedback. As well as the constructive criticism.
Later guys,
craCkpot

Hey crackPot, nice to see the new fix released.
Unfortunately, it still takes away the forums and the posts. I can click different forums, but still can't see the topics.
What I did deduce was when i added the "$text = whp_parse($text);" to the functions_content file, everything went kerplunk. When commented however, i get all the posts back.
There must be something thats not getting returned correctly, or the variable $text is being defined to 2 different things, or not being parsed correctly in your parse.php. It may not be the whp_parse being the problem, it may just be a fatal error in how parse.php handles the $text string.
I only have a little Java knowledge, so I could be wayyy off, but I hope this helps in the tinkering.
That is because when the "$text = whp_parse($text);" line is commented, the script isn't doing anything. What I don't understand is that the script works without any problems on my guild's website (
http://www.exhume-guild.com
), and it is the exact same script that is linked in this thread. Assuming that our installations are similar, it must be an issue with installation, or configuration. Have you tried playing with the settings in config.php.
Other than that, I don't really know what to tell you. I can't really help much because I do not know how your forums were setup, nor do I have access to your installation to see what is actually going on. Just showing me the forums and how it is acting up does not give me enough information to figure out what is going on, and then release a fix.
Actually I just had an idea. Its worth a shot. Open "parse.php" and goto your text editor's replace window. Have it search for "$message" (w/o the quotes) and replace it with "$whp_message". Make sure that it replaces
ALL
instances of "$message", otherwise it will break the code. I counted 21 instances of "$message" in parse.php. Perhaps phpBB uses $message for another reason that I am unaware of. Let me know if this works, I tried it on my installation and it is still working as intended. Hope this helps.

For those that are having problems with your posts not showing up after installing this script then I need more information. For example, is your MySQL setup properly, because the only difference in the script between using item cache or not is MySQL. If it is not setup properly then it would cause a problem. I really wish I could help, but the script is working very nicely on my installation, which has no other mods and uses the default (prosilver) theme, and I have seen it work properly on other peoples'. So there must be a difference between our installations, and unfortunately I cannot check to see what these differences are because I do not have access to your website's code.

Would it be possible to put something in it again like ? We just recently updated our website to phpbb3 and all links are updated now so it atleast changes itemico to the standard text/popup. But I would love to find itemico work again on it's own. I'm not that into php coding to figure exactly out how to work it.
Any help on that side?
Cheers and for the record. This was about the only mod that worked and it works very good! :) cheers on that.
