Prot Pally right now. Haven't dual specced yet, but will do so sometime soon. Not sure if I am going to go Ret as PVP spec or Holy.

Opie is a nice one for keeping your cooldowns easy to reach.

As Prot I don't really use anything outside of ubiquitous stuff like DBM, Unit Frames, Pally Power, Barmod, Recount, etc.

Vista and Win7 dont necessarily hog memory. They keep things cached better utilizing your memory. If you open up Wow, close it and open it later, it will access the slow hard drive less as it keeps alot of it in RAM. This doesn't mean if you open something else Windows wont give up that ram. Its just doing something better than just letting the ram sit there uselessly.
Reguardless youll want a min 2GB if you play any sort of game made in the last decade. CoH will thrash the &*!@ out of my hard drive with 2GB if I put textures on ultra. 4GB is the sweet spot.
Vista was windows me (though a bit more stable)
Win 7 is XP.
Been using 64bit version for about a year and I haven't had many issues. Good driver support etc. Its basically what Vista should have been. This is why I dont pay for OSs. MS owes me for ME.
Forever.

I recommend a 32+GB (good) SSD drive for W7. You'll never look back.
If you really miss XP though;
XP MOAD

W7 is much better than Vista in DX10+ performance anyway. Its like playing DX9 in XP again.
