To all the people saying he should have to pay: no, that's stupid.
If I buy time for someone else's account, it is THEIR time (because they own the account and everything associated with it) but MY financial responsibility (because I own, or in this case I guess claimed to own, the credit card account that was used for payment). If the transaction turns out to be fraudulent, it is clearly not the account holder who should be held responsible, but me!
There is no way he should be penalized for a transaction he wasn't involved in just because it was made on his behalf (without his permission, no less!). If they want their money, they can hunt down the hacker and make him pay up.
They are, of course, entitled to insist that the OP immediately begin paying for time that hasn't occurred yet, but charging him for time they've already given him that he thought was already payed for is just lame.
By not reporting the credit card to begin with, he essentially stole it from the hacker. So, yes it was his financial responsibility.

Exactly how did I steal anything if he GAVE me game time? If, for instance, he broke into my house and decided that in addition to stealing stuff, he'd KNOWINGLY buy me a new couch expecting to own the house from that point on, but then was caught and the house was given back to me, I shouldn't have to pay for the couch even if I did use the couch for 6 months.

I don't like trolling, nor do I like trolls. But I cannot resist this temptation, so my apologies to everyone ahead of time.

That's funny coming from a guy who has "Life is not fair, and I love it that way" as a sig.
I'm going back under the bridge now.

Yes it is his account, it is why he is responsible for whatever the moneys comes in or not. Now in this case you may have pleaded he was un aware that he got more time and then he made have pleaded to blizz to take off the 6 months charge, but in this instance it is different.
He know the hacker had payed for a 6 month renewal with a credit card. He should have reported it to blizz so they could remove it like any good man would done. Now the account holder decided to take advantage. It was a bad credit card, so the money did not come in. Now he is fully responsible for his actions, i reccomend paying fast bcs it is true they can slam him with a fraud claim.

You're leaving out a part of the metaphor though: The person who broke into your house in this case likely was not paying for that couch with his own money.
The hacker stole your account. The hacker paid for game time on your account with a credit card that he stole. The person who actually owned the credit card filed a fraudulent transaction notice on the charges for game time and had the transactions reversed. Now Blizzard has an account that's been played-upon for X number of weeks/months without receiving any payment for it.
So no, you're definitely due the money. You received services that you actively used but didn't pay for.
Now granted, this should be a learning experience for Blizzard: When they restore an account after a hack attempt, they
should
verify that any game time purchased for the account was purchased by the "owner" of the account (and I use quotes around owner because we don't own our accounts, we simply lease access to them).
