Account hacked, leaving me in an interesting financial predicament...

My account was hacked (I'm assuming via keylogger) a few months ago and my password was changed a few days after my game time had expired. I was able to change the password back and restore all my lost characters, gear, and gold (got an authenticator now too) and also discovered that he had for some reason added game time to my account (6 months recurring). I think to myself cool, free game time, this hacker is obviously not very good at his business.
Now, a few months later, I get an email from blizzard saying that the credit card was canceled and that I now owe them $80 in order to keep playing. Is there anything I can do about this? I sent an email to account billing, but I have no idea how well they tend to these affairs as I'm sure problems like this come up often.

Just because you haven't been spending the $15 or so monthly to play WoW doesn't mean you're actually losing money if you pay what Blizzard says is due. Just look at it as deferred payment.

To be honest, it is your fault not reporting it to blizz.
Trusting a hacker keeping something like that, you know a credit card payment for 6 months then you get back is very naive thinking.
You basically saying, i got some free game time from a hacker, the hacker used a bad credit card, his fault not mine, why should i pay for time i used to play with my account.
You took a chance, sadly you lost. So pay up and quit if it upsets you so much, or pay up and continue. Anyhow you owe the money still, because it is your account.

You can;
A, Pay the $80 and continue playing the game.
B, Refuse to pay the $80 and stop playing the game.
C, Refuse to pay the $80 and create a new account, costing around $40. You have to start from scratch.
D, Get 'hacked' again. Have them 'pay', for more gametime. Repeat in 6 months.

Interesting.
From a strictly Logical view... there is Nothing that would lead Blizz to believe that a friend of yours didnt "Hack" your account, allowing your friend to sell a bunch of stuff and filter the money to a netural toon. Then allow you to get your stuff back.
There is No real "Proof" that you were hacked in a Logical view, and by Not paying, it would (in my eyes) seem to make you shady, and possibly guilty.
what's more, if I was Blizz and I felt that way, and thecard Was stolen... as it is/was attached to your account, You could actually be charged with fraud.
I agree it sucks, and I am sure it Felt pretty good to Stick it to a guy who screwes up the wow experience for many players... But honesty in this situation might be prudent. I mean, you Did get all your stuff back...
BTW, this just happened to a friend of mine, but a CC is attached to his account now that is not his card. it was the hacker. He caught the hack in mid hack, as there was still 1 toon of his with a Full mailbox of all the stuff that wasnt bound and a Ton of gold...
I reccomended the same action to him.

If you had told them they might have let you keep it. When I got my account hacked. I said that they had the credit card left on my account. So they took it off but left the time payed on it. I had 6 months as well.
