If you're scheduled for a guild run and you run ahead without them, that's your !@#$ move. If it's just a bunch of heroics and you popped into a good group while they weren't online and then they get &*!@ed, that's their *!@# move. I mean really, it's a daily reset. What's the big deal?

I tend to try to save at least the heroic daily to run with guildmates and treat any other runs I want to do mostly as a free-for-all for whomever is on.
Really, I think its highly immature of your guildmates for being so upset. Unless, you've run *every* heroic there is still things for you to do together that night and for them to attempt to force you to only play around their schedule is a pretty arrogant attitude to take.
I would try to talk with them though and see if you can work something out, perhaps set aside a few heroics your guild wants to focus on and agree not to do them before "X" o'clock. If no one has logged on and expressed interest by that time you're free to join any group.

This is a nice idea... unless if you're the sole equipped tank or healer.

Well that's fine because my alt is a druid.

If it's not something that is scheduled I don't think it should be a huge deal. I mean, it's just heroics. they could do the ones you haven't done first, then for the ones you have done they could just find a replacement.
Like I said, just heroics.

I'm in kind of a similar situation, but I don't ever pug. Instead, the guild's heroic schedule tends to revolve around my own. That's because currently I'm our best geared tank, and the only one who can reliably complete a Heroic Trial of the Champions. Generally what happens is I get on and call for a group to do H ToC, the daily heroic, and maybe the daily regular. The first healer and three DPS who volunteer get the berth for that evening. Trouble is, people who log in a bit later or don't speak up are consistently left out. It's been a struggle convincing others to not only gear up, but seek tanking experience. I've been thinking about taking a break or rolling an alt to force the issue, but I'm the polar opposite of an altoholic, and am kinda greedy for my emblems and seals.
