I've been using the Belkin Nostromo for years. If I couldn't game with it, I wouldn't game. It's become second nature to me. The only time I touch my keyboard is if I'm typing in chat. I've always hated using the keyboard anyway, as I have small hands. I bought an N52te for a friend and he said he doesn't know how he got along without it.
For someone to tell you that your wasting your money buying these game pads is pretty arrogant in my opinion. It's a personal preference thing. All you can do is try it.
I do like the N52te because it doesn't have a ton of buttons and I find my fingers go directly to where they need to be. I even set up my main hotbar to the same layout using Dominoes. All I have to do is drag spells/abilities to the hotbar to reconfigure. I have a second one that I keep in my laptop bag when I'm gaming on the go :)

I don't use extra keybind peripherals as hunter, but one trick is to consolidate your rotations into a macro. You don't have to put EVERY shot into the macro because it doesn't work that way if you want to have decent dps, but just look at the ranged shots that don't proc off of abilities (explosive shot) and make it one button. If you need help making a macro, check out the guides on the macro forums.

I use the N52, not the N52te, the original N52 is better.
Not a waste of money at all, really smoothes your game play when you get used to it.

The ideal keyboard for a Hunter is one that has the ability to spam your shots by just holding down a button, not having to continuously button smash and wear out your keyboard, like the Logitec G15 is a good one that has that ability.
