This might not be the correct place for this; please tell me if it isn't, it seamed like it was.
Also if this has been addressed before/many times; please forgive me.
I was thinking briefly about the subject mentioned in the title. Not exactly that they are one in the same; but it seamed Blizzard might have based Prince Arthas not entirely but somewhat with King Arthur. Of course it could also be that Arthas is like the anti-Arthur; or perhaps both. What is your partake on this?

No.

The name, perhaps. That would probably be the only correlation between the two. But I don't think they are alike in the slightest.

Could be some correlation.
Frostmourne = Excalibur (Sword in Stone)

Thank you very much.

Frostmourne = Excalibur (Sword in Stone)
I'd say that the blade stuck in the Ice, near Sindragosa's Fall is more of a reference to Excalibur than Frostmourne. Heck, I'd push it to say that the Ashbringer is more like Excalibur than Frostmourne.

Well they are more obvious references. But even so, Frostmourne was found encased in a block of ice.

Jaina = Guenevere?
First she's Arthas' lover, then she "betrays" him for Thrall.

Eww... so Thrall is Lancelot? But Thrall is good, and Lancelot was.... well a putz.

I think they'd make references a little more obvious. :<
Where would Kael'thas fit into it anyway, other than <event> was merely a setback!

I actually saw a well-written article on how Arthas is the anti-Arthur. I'll see if I can find it.

I didn't find it yet, but here's what Wowwiki has to say on the subject:
Arthas could be seen as a "reverse" version of King Arthur, up to the name similarity. Like Arthur, Arthas' fate as the king began with pulling a sword out of the stone - Frostmourne is comparable to the Sword in the Stone/Excalibur. Ner'zhul may be seen as roughly equivalent to Merlin, the wizard figure behind the king, while Uther, Arthas' trainer, shares his name with King Arthur's father. In contrast to Arthur, Arthas destroys a Camelot-styled kingdom and builds its opposite.

Very interesting. Thank you for your contribution!

Honestly, Arthas is more like Mordred then Arthur, espcially the whole "Killing the Father" thing.

Mordrid, Adam? Who's that?
Post by

Arthur's son with his half sister Morganna, the one who killed him, of course he died at the same time.
Full Story.
