Binding Heal
This spell was invented to safe the lives of thousands of forgetful healing priests. Well, not really. Sometimes, you just can't stop healing your target, but you will suffer from damage, too. This is where this spell shines.
It heals for a bit more than a
Flash Heal
would, but on yourself and your target. Not much else to say, use it whenever you would cast
Flash Heal
.
Please note that one Binding Heal is cheaper than two
Flash Heals
. It's not only faster, it's more mana efficient, too! *gasp*
Talents
Holy Concentration
Don't leave home without it. Period. This spell will provide a huge chunk of your mana regeneration during encounters. Note that this talent is what converts crit chance to mana regeneration for holy priests. Use it and love it.
Serendipity
This is another very good talent. You are able to set up some kind of rotation here. Cast some
Binding Heals
and follow up with an accelerated
Greater Heal
or
Prayer of Healing
.
Divine Providence
An increase in healing done is generally a good idea, and since this talent affects quite a lot of spells, taking it is recommended.

Desperate Prayer
A talented instant self heal for a low mana cost and a high efficiency. Too bad it comes with a cooldown. ;-)
Talents
Twin Disciplines
(Discipline)
This is a mandatory talent for any deep holy priest. It will increase the healing done and amplify your various other instant cast spells, too.
Mental Agility
(Discipline)
If you are skipping some deep holy talents, you may be able to pick up this talent. It's by no means mandatory, but may provides some noteable reduction in the cost of many frequently used spells.

Guardian Spirit
Another very special spell, this one allows the target to cheat death. It's not an actual healing spell, but will amplify the healing on the target by a huge amount.
Use it on your tank during critial transitions or boss abilities.
Talents
There are no talents that affect this spell due to it not healing any damage on it's own.
Glyphs
Glyph of Guardian Spirit
Very nice glyph if you are aiming for something like an
Immortal
run. If the target of the spell will not die, the cooldown will be set to 1 minute. This is especially useful during longer fights where you may be able to use it again.
If you do not aim for something like that, there will be many glyphs that will provide more bang for your buck.

Lightwell
This talented spell creates an object that is clickable by your raid- or party-members. It will provide a potent HoT on them as long as they do not suffer from larger hits.
This is some kind of raid healing tool, except that you transfer the actual healing responsibility to your raid members.
Note, that clicking on a
Lightwell
will not interrupt or interfere with any of your current actions. You can even click it while casting.
Talents
There are no talents that directly affect this spell.
Other talents that somehow affect
Lightwell
:
Healing Focus
(negligible)
,
Spiritual Guidance
,
Spiritual Healing
,
Blessed Resilience
(semi-pvp)
and
Test of Faith
Glyphs
Glyph of Lightwell
This glyph will make the
Lightwell's
heals more potent. Since the spell is not picked up by every holy build, even less priests use this glyph.

Power Word: Shield
This is not an actual healing spell itself, but a tool for damage prevention. It is instant cast and on a short cooldown. Use this spell if you can predict incoming damage on the target.
Note, that any target of this spell also receives the
Weakened Soul
debuff, making it immune to another attempt at shielding for 15 seconds.
If you are raiding together with a discipline specced priest, do not use this spell on their assignements. The debuff will mess with their spell casting.
Talents
Twin Disciplines
(Discipline)
This is a mandatory talent for any deep holy priest. It will increase the healing done and amplify your various other instant cast spells, too.
Improved Power Word: Shield
(Discipline)
If you are skipping some deep holy talents, you may be able to pick up this talent. It's not very useful for deep holy priests however.
Mental Agility
(Discipline)
If you are skipping some deep holy talents, you may be able to pick up this talent. It's by no means mandatory, but may provides some noteable reduction in the cost of many frequently used spells.
Other talents that somehow affect
Power Word: Shield
:

,

,
Blessed Resilience
(semi-pvp)
and

Glyphs
Glyph of Power Word: Shield
This provides you with access to yet another small instant healing spell. Since deep holy talents do not amplify
Power Word: Shield
the way a deep disc build does, this glyph is not very good.

Sorry for bumping, but I just wanted to know if anyone has some feedback on the spell section.
Additionally, I just started the
"Typical situations and apropriate spell selections"-part
. I will add more situations over time. If anyone is missing something here, just post it. I will try to include it as soon as possible.
/cheers =)

Seems even greater, I could advice you to test out the post limit and start a new topic, but it isn't needed. It just makes it cleaner.
So I found some little, small, tiny things here and there.
Other talents that somehow affect
Desperate Prayer
:
Holy Specialization,
Inspiration
, Spiritual Guidance, Surge of Light, Spiritual Healing, Blessed Resilience (semi-pvp) and Test of Faith
Desperate Prayer does not trigger Inspiration
Binding Heal
This spell was invented to safe the lives of thousands of forgetful healing priests. Well, not really. Sometimes, you just can't stop healing your target, but you will suffer from damage, too. This is where this spell shines.
It heals for about as much as a Flash Heal would
, but on yourself and your target. Not much else to say, use it whenever you would cast Flash Heal.
Some testing seem to point that Binding Heal, per target, is healing a bit more then Flash Heal. The difference at most seems to be around the 1000 healing. (which can be a lot)

Thanks, changes added! =)
I think I will stick with this topic. Using an index should clean it up enough, I think.

Situation:
I'm grouped with an tank I do not know and he is about to pull a group of mobs I just can't recall right now...
This is some kind of wildcard situation. You don't know how much damage your tank will take, how well he will hold the mob's attention and what else may be happening.
To avoid tank death in such uncertain situatuations it's common practice to start out with a bit of potential overhealing. Prior to the pull, put a
Prayer of Mending
and a
Renew
on your tank. If you are really concered, you may add a
Power Word: Shield
, too.
With the proactive healing out of the way, watch the pull go off and be ready to use Fade any moment. If your tank is worth it's salt and there aren't any random adds joining the fray, you won't need it, however.
Now, watch your tanks health closely. As soon as the fight unfolds, you will get a picture of your tank's ability to mitigate and avoid the incoming damage. Some tanks don't need more than a
Renew
and an occasional
Prayer of Mending
to keep them topped of during a fight.
If your tanks health is dropping, start to toss him some
Flash Heals
to keep him topped of. If this is not enough, try to throw him a
Greater Heal
after three
Flash Heals
. Keep up
Renew
all the time.

Situation:
Omg! A DPS just overaggroed the tank!
Now, while it may be common practice to let the damage dealer deal with the aggro alone, let's just pretend that you feel the irrational and unresistable urge to save him/her from meeting an untimely end.
First, we need to know if the dps is a caster standing at range, or if it is a melee class/spec. If a ranged dps pulls aggro, you usually have enough time to finish casting whatever you were just casting and then turn your attention to the unlucky victim of the mob's attention. If not, you better be quick!
It's a good idea to start out by casting a
Power Word: Shield
on the poor dps class. It may be enough to prevent a one-hit-kill and buy the tank enough time to
taunt
the mob back. But since we are cautious, we won't rely on that. As soon as your global cooldown permits follow up with a few
Flash Heals
, if the dps is still taking damage, of course. If not, just toss him/her a
Renew
and continue with your normal healing duties.
If you are the sole healer, and there are still other sources of damage going on, don't forget your tank and your party. Try to keep a
Prayer of Mending
going round and put a
Renew
on the tank. You may also insert a
Circle of Healing
into your "rotation" to pad the groups health.

You should include in Binding Heal, that heals for about 15% more than Flash Heal (on each person) due to a larger base heal and 10% more healing from Divine Providence talent.
