BS provides more flexibility then JC since you can really put anything in those sockets. Additionally BS has keys which allow you to open lockboxes (I hate having to find a rogue every time). BS (as weaponsmith) also has a very nice BoP mace at lvl 70 which you probably won't replace till 75 to 76.
Enchanting is awesome because it allows you to enchant your leveling gear (something which you probably wouldn't normally do since it's not really worth it to find some enchanter for it) and put all those soulbound quest rewards and old items to a good use (read: disenchanting).
In terms of end game raiding bonus all professions (except engineering) are equal anyway and in terms of leveling utility I'd say BS, ench and leatherworking (for druids since they wear leather) are the best choices.

When it gets nerfed so the gems are not prismatic, then BS will take over. :)
Please don't misquote me like that. It's misleading.
But what you are saying is correct, right now JC is superior to other professions. But it is already announced that this will be fixed and since the OP wants to start a new feral druid by the time he hits 80 I'd assume that JC will no longer be overpowered.
Actually it will be unterpowered after the nerf since (without BS to give you extra sockets) you will not be able to utilize your JC profession bonus without completely screwing with your meta gem reqs.
(Meaning that you have to either have gear with A LOT of sockets or you have to use your dragon gems on stats that are bad for you just to get the meta gem req while other professions can use their bonus for a stat they really need).

I personally like Alchemy/Herb.
Herbs sell well by themself, useful for raiding mats and inscription mats, so the demand is high. Lifeblood can be good for Tanking, especially since it isn't on the GCD.
Alchemy means that you can make flasks and pots. Flasks and Elixirs will last double the time, giving you 2x the bang-for-your-buck, plus the chance to get extra procs if you are a specialist in it. It doesn't gain you anything extra special, but you do get a huge, Huge, HUGE convenience factor with Alchemy if you are planning to do any raiding whatsoever because of 1) the time you saving from collecting herbs and having your flasks last longer and 2) being able to make your own stuff without having to get other people to make it for you or pay the price of the AH.

My Druid is currently LW'ing and Enchanting...since my hunter is way higher in LW'ing, I plan to drop it and pick up something else, not sure if I want a gathering profession or another crafting profession. I pretty much have it narrowed down to skinning or jewelcrafting...skinning for the extra money until I hit levels my hunter can use the leather from, or jewelcrafting so I have a JC'er in my own little economy between characters =)
However, I think enchanting for both rogues and druids is genius, because you can stealth into instances, kill the boss (this is often done in SM: Armory), d/e the drop, which is guaranteed to be a small radiant shard in Armory (Cathedral also I think), and then I personally like to give fiery to my lowbie toons just for kicks, and sell the extra shards on AH in stacks of 4, because that's how many it takes to do fiery.
It's actually still a rather popular enchant for lowbies, especially since Blizz nerfed the old BC "twink" enchants (or rather, made them significantly more level-appropriate). Once I fill my enchanting bag up with the shards, it's anywhere from 100g (on a really really bad day) to 500g. Easy. My record was approximately 750g. I was excited that day =)
Anyway, enchanting is pure win. As for the other, it doesn't make a huge difference.
