tl;dr: I want to go from
this
to
this
.
I want to create 1px black borders around my health and power bars, which are not contiguous. These borders must fade as my UFs fade. For example, when I am in combat, my UF alpha is at 1.00, but OOC the alpha is at 0.75 if I am hurt or 0.00 if I am at full health and power. There are three possibilities as I see it:
KgPanels. Crazy scripting. (or not?)
Pitbull. Is there some option I'm forgetting?
Edit the bar texture to include a 1px border.
Is there something I'm forgetting? Thanks to all who respond.

No crazy scripting. Just a panel parented to the frame.
Could be. Someone more knowledgeable of Pitbull will post on this.
That won't work well as it will screw up upon resizing.

And the opacity will correspond correctly?

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific; since I only have three different bar sizes, I could make three different textures at the appropriate sizes. (I use the Glaze texture; it can't be that hard, can it?) Or would WoW's pixeliness screw things up?

And the opacity will correspond correctly?Yep, a child frame inherits all the properties of its parent.I'm sorry, I should have been more specific; since I only have three different bar sizes, I could make three different textures at the appropriate sizes. Or would WoW's pixeliness screw things up?I don't have such a good understanding of how textures work exactly, but it shouldn't be too hard if you know your graphics editing software. I still recommend against this though. Changing your frames size at all will also oblige you to edit the textures.

KgPanels:
Create a panel parented to your PitBull bar (eg. PitBull4_Frames_Player)
Set the colour of the frame to black (0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 100%)
Set the width and height of the panel to 100% (for size reference)
Adjust the width and height percentages until they are 1 pixel wider/taller than your bar

kgPanels was definitely the right way to go. Thanks for the help!

What does padding have to do with borders?

I see where he was going with it. Padding: 1px, solid black border. Unfortunately, that's not what I needed, because my bars were not contiguous. If they were contiguous, that would have worked perfectly.
