NO! Never, ever, ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever (contine for 20 years) take that sword, for a few reasons.
1) You would most likley be a ninja since its unlikely it'll drop with a druid tank, or for that matter with some guy that in the group that could make more use of it off-spec.
2) People would think you are a ninja if they saw you walking around with that sword since its a tank sword.

It wouldn't be horrible to use, but the stats on it aren't optimal for a rogue (143.4 DpS, 25 AP, 26 Hit). If you are sword spec and need an offhand I could see you taking it if no one else wanted it, but you should get
Grasscutter
as your entry level off-hand sword. However, if you don't have 50 badges yet, and you are still using a blue off-hand, Red Sword would be an upgrade for you.
However, just make sure you are not taking it away from the tank if he needs it. He has priority over you.

Don't wear it for one reason and one reason alone, has nothing to do with looking like a ninja...
You'll look tarded.

What Porcell said.
It's viable, and RSoC is one of the best weapons DPS-wise for a rogue pre-raid, but walking around with it (as you can evidently see from the flaming in this thread) would entail even more "lolnub"/"wtflrn2play" in-game from non-rogues.
The fact that you may be flamed by people who don't realize the benefit of the sword to a rogue, shouldn't be the deterring factor.
Yes, you shouldn't need on this over a warrior or a paladin. You may get lucky with a DK, since most would prefer 2-handed weapon. If it's a good weapon for a rogue, use it.
People find all kinds of things to pick on, we had top warrior dps picked on because he had leather items, by random people in dalaran (this is pre-3.1.1 where leather was nerfed and plate buffed, or so I heard). He still came out top on our charts, and as a guild we have no issue with him wearing leather (rogues do get priority on it though).
I wouldn't be surprised if the tanking weapon off KT in naxx is BiS for you as well pre-ulduar.
Yes there are some wasted stats on this weapon for a rogue, but the dps of it makes up for that.

Except Last Laugh is an Axe, which rogues can't use. Your point is made, however. It's the whole "upgrade at the moment" that you see so often. Yes a warlock can roll on an MP5 item if it's an upgrade. He shouldn't get it over a healing class, and of course there are better items for him, but that doesn't mean he's wrong for equipping and using an MP5 item if he a) doesn't have better at the time and b) a "primary" class does not need it.
Same thing with Red Sword. Are there better out there, more itemized for a rogue? Of course. Would a rogue be stupid for equipping Red Sword if it's an upgrade? Of course not. He'd be stupid not to.

I saw a mage with it once.
He had gotten it from a group where no one could use it... And as he was the group disenchanter, he simply traded the crystal for it.
That said, if I were in a group as my paladin (or as any of my other characters) and saw someone roll need on this that was not in a tanking role (so long as they didn't already have it) I would be extremely put off and likely would not group with that person again.

That particular mage may have very well been my horde main. I was with a group of friends there, and as usual, they needed when needed, and passed otherwise to give me a chance to get
Needy
, when
Red Sword of Courage
dropped. All passed for it, and I took it. I was about to DE it when I remembered my sword skill was stuck at 399/400 for quite a while, so I offered an
Abyss Crystal
for the roll, and kept the sword to raise my sword skill to 400 to get
Master of Arms
.
For those playing with a squishie, you'll know that raising weapon skills up to 400 can be quite a pain, especially since the dps on the weapons we use for regular play is way to low to do so. If you can get a hold of a weapon with some nice dps to help you raise the weapon skill (without ninja'ing, stealing or doublecrossing others), it's definitely advised to do so.

For leveling melee weapons on classes that were not intended to actually hit things, the best spot to do so is in Sholazar basin, the level 75ish dragon eggs in the north. They give skillpoints, and do not fight back at all. What you could have acutally done was grab a grey sword from a Dalaran vendor, they are perfect due to the high attack speed and low dps.
