I play both. DK's are hard because they have a lot of snare talents. Hunters only have a few talents that can keep dk's away. therefor hunters will always struggle. I find that you need to save deterrence for death grip and disengage. Pop scatter shot followed by frost trap and freeze them when they get in melee range, kite them and start your rotation. A pet with a snare such as a crab is usually good. Oh and feign death is also very good when you see them target you from a distance, it gives you a few more seconds to get stings and what not off dealing at least some damage.
I find that marks has better control over melee with the disarm effects and near constant daze up time. But it is doable with survival

I'm a hunter, and it seems like I can never get away from DK's in Bgs, and they always seem to be a tad better than me in raids.
I think they might be a tad OP, but not very much.
I wanted to think what DKs think about DKs.
I play both, and your gripe should not be about DKs being OP, but Hunters being horrible at pvp. Hunters have received a lot of nerfs, and have never been given a great deal of help with pvp.......primarily versus melee.
DKs are really nowhere anymore powerful than paladins or warriors, and especially rogues. All melee types have a slight advantage over a hunter, in that they have many ways to close the gap, and keep closing it when you blow your cd's to get away. And all but rogues, are going to have high armor and hp's......which mean they are tough.
Playing pvp as a hunter is a very hard task.

Wyvern sting puts a target to sleep for up to 30seconds in PvE, and 10seconds in PvP, the dot effect lasts 6seconds, not the sleep effect.

Now... Like I said... I'm not here to QQ. I have finally lvled my DK to 80 and so like to think I can see things from a pretty objective PoV. My point was that DKs
do
have CC, and it's easily as good (I find better) than that of a hunter in most situations. I was just responding to Lynri's point :)
And again.....what people seem to miss, is DKs are not the problem....Hunters are the problem.
A Hunter will fare no better 1v1 against a warrior or paladin....and in some cases a rogue if the rogue gets the jump and the hunter can't burn him down.
Hunters are and have been broken in pvp for most of the game's history....outside a couple of short lived periods.
