One of the biggest problems while leveling a warrior compared to other classes is the complete dependence on gear. Bad gear will make it harder to level because it will take longer to kill things but with good or great gear comes massive damage output and things die a lot faster. Warriors at your level don't have a lot of skills for survivability so most of the time its either kill or be killed. I remember moments when I was leveling at around your level and I got into situations where I had to spam hamstring while trying to out run multiple mobs due to a bad pull.
Once you hit 60+ and start to get better gear you'll see a significant improvement on how fast you can kill stuff.
Another factor that I almost forgot to mention is a solid spec. If you gear, spec and take full advantage of your skills, you'll find that warriors have a lot of damage output potential that just needs to be unlocked.

Well, warriors do get better at 80, but your survivability will be better as prot. If you want things to die faster, go fury. If you want a bit of a balance between the two, I suggest going with arms.

This is talent build I'd use for leveling as fury at 49. Make sure to get rampage when you hit level 50 because that proc is a nice dps boost.
If someone can suggest a better build than mine then please do because steering someone wrong is the last thing I want to do. I also didn't put glyphs with my build because I haven't been able to play wow since january due to deployment and I'm not 100% on which glyhps are best or which ones can be used at what level.
