Ok. I did something sort of bad for learning mechanics. I dumped BoA stuff onto my druid, and after all my time playing, I now have two maxed out toons. I've always... ALWAYS focused on my mage.
Anyway, I tried healing and I'm hooked. Right now I get all aflutter seeing a screen full of green text. But, there's just a few things that the FAQ's haven't really been able to help me out with.
Firstly, dual specing. I figured "LoL Boomkin" since well I'm familiar with mages, not that huge a jump. BUT, as of right now, everyone is telling me that my dual spec should be feral that with raiding it's 100x easier to gear feral than it is to gear Boomkin as an off spec? Can anyone shine some light here to decide if I should maybe branch into this? I admit, playing Mage 2.0 doesn't sound too exciting.
Secondly, I'm currently LW/Skinning. I like LWing and don't plan to lose the SP on my bracers. But, there doesn't seem to be alot of help towards my healing with LWing. And I was debating picking up tailoring for the cloak and leg threads. Input?

I'm not sure about how easy or hard it is to gear the specs. I do not that having a feral tank secondary spec is more helpful to your guild. Moonkin would be more helpful to yourself. So you have to make the choice of what you want to do.
The same pretty much goes for your professions. Tailoring will give you the same bonus spellpower on pants as you got on your bracers (i think +27). The same choice as above. Tailoring will give you a little more dps which helps your guild but Skinning probably helps you out more for making money.

Well, as pointed out. My server has ALOT of mages and priests. And I'm told that as Boomkin alot of the gear that is best in slot for me is cloth. Now, being a mage as my main. I know how crazy-angry I got seeing anything cloth going to a druid. :p
As for feral secondary, I would be focused on DPS feral. I'm a wretched wretched tank.
But, that leaves the question is, is it worth it trying to have a melee dps spec with the current anti-melee raiding enviroment.

as far as leatherworking goes i gave it up as a healer
much better to have
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=53042
to use
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=46376
and have it last twice as long
plus having an alchemy trinket that gives 40% from potions and using
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=33448
(which are quite easy to make) to regain mana
so that you can focus on sp rather than mana regen
